Congratulations to the new forum

It is the first time I see your forum, and I think it has a lot of potential to become a great plaform for discussions not only about the English language, but also about Anglo-Saxon's culture and mentality. Wish you all the best and lots of success, Jules Verne.

Yeah, anglo-saxons are a breed

I happen to know a lot of them and there are things that you can only explain by saying "well, he's American" or "she's British"

Anglo-Saxson mentality

This is true, Moon-Goddes. Anglo-Saxon mentality is different from the Israeli one in many aspects. I don't want to make generalizations, but for example, people tend to see Anglo-Saxons as polite and tactful, while Israelis are viewed as very straightforward and impatient in a way that seems rude to many foreigners. Where does the truth lie? it depends on whom you ask. One person can say that over-openess may verge on rudeness, while another person may argue that over-politeness is a sign of coldness or hypocrisy. Eventaully, every culture has unique characteristics and good manners which we can learn and maybe absorb.

Yeah, but....

How do you know when you cross the line? I'm talking personally here...I've tried in recent years to be how my mom asked me to be, polite, walking with my back straight, not laugh too hard, everything. But sometimes I feel like I'm fitting into that Anglo-Saxon image of politeness and coldness and I don't know how to balance between the 'Israeli' way of handling things and the 'Anglo-Saxon' way... What do you think? How can you balance?
