In addition to the previous Source from the Chumash pertaining to Shevet Gad I would like to mention a few more which are very interesting .THey show that Am Yisroel was Practicing a Martial Arts of their own. ****In Sefer SHOFTEM, Perek Gimel from Pasukim (tet-vuv to chuf- vuv). The BIBLICAL EVENT is about Ahud who plans to assasinate Aglon king of Moav.Ahud makes his own design of a sword inorder to do the work a short sword around 45-48 centemeters long.The sword was made Double Bladed (sharp on both sides)and the Blade seems to be wider then the handle.He was a lefty and kept his sword on the right hip under his cloths.The enemy was not aware of his left handed capabilities and searched for any weapons on his left side. Aglon the king also looked for any BULDGE coming from his cloths for any weapons and did not see any.
