Who are your musical influences? My favourite band of all time is Siverchair.They're amazing.Greenday and Nirvana, they were big bands for us growing up.I've also been into the British band Muse a lot lately they're incredible.I like a lot of 80's stuff like The Cure and Depeche Mode too. Have you met the Siverchair guys? Yeah,when they made the Diorama album they let me come into the studio and I got to hang out with them.Another time we were waiting at an airport for a flight and I got up to get a drink and I walked past Daniel and Natalie.I was like no way! So I went over to talk to them and I was shaking! But your famous,so why were you so nervous about meeting a celeb? They're the one band I get really nervous around.Like the first time I met them was in the studio and the next day we did a festival together.Chris came over to say hi afterwards and he brout me so many drinks that I got really drunk!I couldnt say nocoz he was Chris for silverchair.He kept handing me drinks!I've had some good experiences with those guys.They probably think I'm a freak coz I have a Silverchair tattoo.They're probably secretly scared of me! Is that the neon ballroom tattoo? Yeah, it has the guy and girl dancing bout it doesnt have the word Silverchair. Are your parents rockers too? Sort of,they're definatly not like me.They're both pretty conservative.My dad likes the Beatles,he likes a lot of music but he wears glasses and nice shirts! Are your folks cool with your tattoos? I think tey used to hate it but now they're pretty used to it.Is cool coz I used to get so nervous every tim a got a new tattoo coz I'd have to show them.But now I have so many that I cant get a new one and they dont realise its new! They just think its allway beed there. Is your rebellious image real, do you trash hotel rooms and go on benders? No,not really,its fun to live the rock 'n' roll lifestyle and Im sure there are bands like that but I think thats a cliche thats fading these days.I have a guilty conscience.If I trashed a hotel room I'd feel really bad coz I'd know some one would have to clean it up! Its fun to have drinks with other bands your touring with but were not crazy. While we're dispelling myths ,do you guys really belive girls dont like boy-just cars and money? Some of them,sure! Were froma a little town in Maryland but we spent a lot of time in LA when we're making a record and you just see these people that are s different from where we live. Tell us about your girlfriend! My girlfrend has been with me since befor GC had a record deal.We've been together the whole time and Im so lucky to have someone woh stuck with me through this whole thing.She loves me for me and doesnt have anything to do with the band. When did you lose your virginity? Dude,I cant say that.What if my mum reads this magazine?I dont know,I guess I was like 16 or something like that.I know it only took about one minute.I really dont remember it very well,I wasnt drunk or anything,just young.I had a couple of girlfriends growing up but she wasnt my first one.I thinks she was the first one that lasted more than a week! Whats the inside scoop on Joel and Hilary-are they really just friends? Yeah,its so funny,they met at some concert and I think they went to to a coffee shop or something and someone took a picture of them and made such a big deal out of it.I f they were together I'd be pretty pissed coz I ve never met her.They only hung out that one time.
