TT IS GONE GET PAID.

LeBron, after (Shelvin) Mack missed the second 3 at the end, you dropped to the floor. What was going through your mind at that point?
&nbsp
James: I gave it everything I had tonight. My teammates did, played our tail off and to be able to win a game like this with so many ups and downs, so many lead changes, it's a huge win for our team.
&nbsp
LeBron, take us through your slow start. What got you going and can you compare this to Detroit in Game 5 in 2007?
&nbsp
James: I was struggling earlier. I just missed a lot of shots that I was capable of making, obviously. I missed a lot of layups. I missed a couple of 3s. My teammates kept me afloat. Even me having an off (quarter), I think I was 0-for-9 in the first quarter, it was 24-21 at the end of the first quarter. We were in the game because of my teammates. They picked me up and I just tried to do some other things while we were struggling offensively as far as shooting. For me, offense as far as scoring doesn't define my game. I always wanted to be a triple threat in this league, being able to rebound, to assist and also to score. When I wasn't scoring and those guys were picking me up, I was able to do other things to help us go. Every game is different, as far as the Game 5 in Detroit, compared to this game is so much different. It was a 2-2 series at that point being in Detroit. Tonight is a 2-0 series being back home. This is much different, but the win feels right.
&nbsp
Matthew, can you respond to Al Horford? He said he feels you have a track record now for hurting opponents. I wanted to get your take on the play and then a comment.
&nbsp
Dellavedova: I would obviously disagree with that. I was boxing him out and you can see from the baseline view that he was pulling my left arm down.
&nbsp
LeBron, how are you feeling now and what do you do to recover from what happened today?
&nbsp
James: How am I feeling? I've been better. It'll be around-the-clock treatment as usual, get my mind, get my body right for Tuesday.
&nbsp
LeBron, Larry Bird used to say that rebounding was mostly will. You had 20 rebounding opportunities and grabbed 18. Can you tell me about your will to rebound?
&nbsp
James; We needed it tonight. We gave ourselves 19 offensive rebounds, extra possessions when we weren't shooting the ball well. For me, we played a lot of small-ball tonight. But even when we were big, I was just trying to help our bigs out, tried to help them rebound. It was good offense for us when I'm rebounding, able to push the break. Just being in that mindset that I was trying to get every rebound that was possible that was in my lane. The one or two that I could've gotten, like you said, was just being in the mix and just helping us get extra possessions.
&nbsp
LeBron, (David) Blatt described your injury as cramps. Was this similar to what you were going through in Miami in the Finals last year or was this something different?
&nbsp
James: No, this was probably the same thing. I play to exhaustion. I play hard and when I give my teammates, I give myself as much as I can give. Sometimes, the body just shuts down at times and that's what happened tonight at one point. Even in overtime, I asked to come out. I had a second thought and there was no way. I wouldn't have felt right about the situation, win, lose or draw if I had went to the bench and not being out there for my teammates. It was mind over matter at that point.
&nbsp
When you're out there, what responsibility do you have for the safety of the other nine guys on the floor? In terms of style of play.
&nbsp
James: You just play the game the right way. At this point, you're trying to do whatever it takes to win. You don't hurt anybody. No one I don't think in our league goes around trying to hurt people. But you don't take the aggressive nature out of the game. I think in the case of ever since you were a kid, the ball on the floor, first man to the floor usually gets the ball. There's no difference between what Delly did to Kyle Korver last game and 18 guys diving on the floor late in the game tonight. It was like six or seven guys diving on the floor for the loose ball. Delly was on the floor, (James Jones) was on the floor, Mike Scott was on the floor, (Iman Shumpert) was on the floor, JR (Smith) was on the floor. Just no one got hurt. There's no difference between me boxing out or Al Horford boxing me out and Delly boxing someone out. That is a fundamental box out. That's all it is. And we all know that. We don't ever want to play with the integrity of the game and try to get people hurt. That's not what it's about because we're all one brotherhood at the end of the day. The NBA is a family. But you play to win the game and you play aggressively. That's what it's about.
&nbsp
LeBron, that corner 3 has been good to you in these playoffs so far. Is there any story that Tristan Thompson suggested that perhaps Damon Jones deserves some credit?
&nbsp
James: He does, for sure. We work everyday just trying to get the ball up there and not think about it too much. First of all, the offensive rebound by Double T (Thompson) was huge. I saw it in his mind that he wanted to go back up for that shot and I yelled his name out probably as loud as I could yell it because I wanted another opportunity at it. Just seeing Paul Millsap running up a little out of control, just gave him a pump fake and just stick to my routine, the things that I've worked on all year long. Make or miss, I'm just satisfied with the result.
&nbsp
LeBron, would an earlier version of yourself have been able to handle an 0-for-10 start as you did?
&nbsp
James: Not a few years ago, a few is probably three or four years ago. I was still going to the Finals at that point. (At) 23, 24, 25 maybe. I think just because I've had experience. It's not about the younger LeBron or anything about that. I've just been able to have the experience over the years that's helped me get to this point. My game is so much better than it was when I was younger. Everything that I've worked on over the course of years and the mental side of the game, I just try to incorporate that on the floor, no matter if I'm making shots or missing shots or whatever the case may be.
&nbsp
Matthew, DeMarre Carroll said that a player should never dive at another player's feet. In the case of Korver in Game 2, and in the case of Horford tonight, did you feel were guilty of doing any such thing?
&nbsp
Dellavedova: I saw the ball. I dove on the ball. If I stay on my belly, it's going to be a jump ball. So I protect the ball and kick it out to a teammate. On the other one, I'm boxing him out. He's pulling my left arm down. I'm trying to stay up and he's just pulling me down. The tape's there.
&nbsp
James: In Game 2, when (Pero) Antic two-hand shoves me out of the air, the fact that I'm still playing, we don't talk about it. But he two-hand shoves me in the air. So what are we really talking about? Are we talking about us trying to win basketball games or about those guys trying to (think), Matthew Dellavedova is this type of guy. He works his tail off, every single day. He beats the odds. And he comes to play as hard as he can every single night. If they're focused on Delly, then they're focused on the wrong thing.
&nbsp
LeBron, do you feel some of the things the Hawks are doing are not getting the pub that maybe Delly is

המשך

LeBron, do you feel some of the things the Hawks are doing are not getting the pub that maybe Delly is getting some of the criticism or really your team in general?
&nbsp
James: That's not really our concern. Obviously, I'm a little off about it because this is my guy, this is my teammate and this is a guy that goes out and works his tail off every single night. People are trying to give him a bad rap. He doesn't deserve it and I don't like it. But I'm not going to get involved in anything that's outside of basketball. That's not my place. What I care about is how we prepare every single night, how we prepare in the film session, which we're going to have another one tomorrow, and how we go about trying to win a basketball game. That's going to get 99.9 percent of my mental. But I will protect my guys for sure.
&nbsp
Can you talk about being a game away from making it to the Finals and what needs to happen for you guys to get it done?
&nbsp
James: We defend. Our coaching staff will give us a gameplan and it's up to us to go out and execute it. We had a lot of mistakes tonight. We did some things well. But we had a lot of mistakes tonight that we can clean up on. If we come in with our defensive mindset as we had the whole playoffs thus far, we give ourselves a chance to advance. If not, then it'll be Game 5.
&nbsp
LeBron, is that more pain than you've ever played through at any point in your career?
&nbsp
James: It's current, so I will say yeah. I don't remember how I felt two years ago at a certain situation. But I'm playing through a lot. But it doesn't matter. I don't want any sympathy. There's no rest for the weary. If I'm putting on the uniform, and I'm on the floor, I have to make things happen for our team. It's that simple. I'm not the only guy that's limping. I'm not the only guy that's cramping. I'm not the only guy that's hurt. There's a lot of guys out there that are playing well and I'm one of them as well. So I've got to go out and help our team win, no matter where I'm at.
&nbsp
Can you talk about Shumpert and JR, how big they were tonight, how big they've been to the Cavs and maybe the emergence of Matthew as well, especially in the light of Kyrie's (Irving) absence?
&nbsp
James: Those three guys, JR and Shump, to answer the first part of your question, they were huge tonight. JR gives us a double-double and no one talks about it. He gives us 17 (points) and 10 (rebounds). Obviously what Shump does, he rebounds, he defends whoever you need him to defend and he gives us 15 points tonight as well. The guy next to me (Dellavedova), he's been thrown into a situation that he wasn't thrown into all season for the most part, and that's starting, being our starting point guard with Kyrie being absent the last couple of games. Those three guys have answered the call. They've played exceptional basketball. They've defended. They've done everything we need them to do. We need them to do it a little bit more. Every game is going to be challenging. As hard as it was to win tonight, Game 4 is going to be just as hard as it was tonight. But those three guys are playing unbelievable basketball and without them, we wouldn't be sitting here at this point.
&nbsp

You said the other day that you were running out of superlatives to describe LeBron. What superlatives would you use to describe tonight's game?
&nbsp
Unbelievable. I've never seen a stat line like that in a playoff game or any other games to be honest with you. And it's not just the stat line. He cramped up and he knew we couldn't win the game without him. He played through pain and the cramping and wouldn't let us lose. Amazing.
&nbsp
Can you describe what LeBron's injuries were? It looked like they were working on his knee throughout the game.
&nbsp
I don't know (what the injuries are). I do know he smiled in the locker room and that's a good sign. Can you imagine if he started quickly tonight what we would've seen? Holy smokes.
&nbsp
What do you think got him going and turned it around for you guys tonight?
&nbsp
We just started playing. In the first quarter we couldn't get the ball to go down. A lot of shots on the rim. We didn't turn it over a whole lot. We weren't making a lot of mistakes, we just couldn't make shots. We stayed with it and played the way we wanted to play. I thought Atlanta put up a great fight tonight. Give them credit for what they did on the floor and how they competed. Even more credit for our guys for how they hung in and refused to lose.
&nbsp
What explanation were you given for why Dellavedova received a technical?
&nbsp
I didn't get a real specific explanation, to be honest. I'm interested to hear about it or read about. I didn't see that to tell out you the truth. I'll have to look at it again, too.
&nbsp
Tristan Thompson picked up his fifth foul halfway through the fourth quarter. You took him out briefly and put him back in and he played the rest of the game. How did you find the confidence to play him with five fouls?
&nbsp
Tristan is a good defender and plays the game right. And we needed him on the floor. We needed another rebounder and his defensive capability. The game could've gotten away from us there. I had to make a decision and take a risk and hope he played foul free. I didn't expect him to have to play five more minutes foul free, but he did to his credit, and had a lot to do with us winning the game.
&nbsp
With Kyrie, the decision before the game not to play him, give us the thought process on him and will he be available in the close out game or will that be a game-time decision?
&nbsp
We were in conversation with the doctor and with the doctor's decision we decided to hold him out. I really don't know about 48 hours from now. That most likely is going to be a game-time decision. We're hoping for him to get well and hoping we get him back as soon as possible. The other guys are stepping up and the other guys are giving everything they have for Kev not playing, for Kyrie not playing, with no excuses and no quit. Hanging in there and doing everything they can to help the Cavs win and that's what a team does.
&nbsp
You're rotation is down to only seven guys, Shawn got just a couple minutes tonight. Can you see, Kyrie notwithstanding, other guys increase the rotation, or is this the seven or eight guys you go to war with?
&nbsp
We can go to war with anybody. We play guys to win it. That's what we'll do. If that means we have to do something else, I'll do that. Everybody has to be ready to play and step in. We are having our difficulties in missing guys and minutes and we're just trying to figure out how to play it. Fortunately, TV timeouts are long and the number of timeouts are great. We're figuring out how to get extra rest for guys and guys are responding.
&nbsp
You talked about mixing and matching. You've had some other people other than Delly and LeBron bringing the ball up. Can you speak to that? And also, J.R. had an incredible rebounding game.
&nbsp
I thought we did offensively petty much what we wanted to do and shared ball-handing duties partly because of what we wanted to run on offense and to avoid over-fatigue. J.R. played an incredible game. He played his position. Ten rebounds for a two guard is impressive and it seemed they were all important. He got his nose into the gray areas of the game. Great job. Been great since Game 1 and he's been consistent. Keeps giving it to us.
&nbsp
What are you learning about this team as it goes through the playoffs with all these different things happening?
&nbsp
It makes me think of John Wayne's 'True Grit.' They're gritty and not going to give in to anything. The Cavaliers have a lot of heartfelt guys. And that's a good thing.
&nbsp

With (injures to Korver and Horford), how were you guys able to stay in the game, and even take the lead late?
&nbsp
Mack: Just playing hard. We just didn't come out with the win tonight.
&nbsp
Bazemore: We played hard and came into the game with the mindset that we could win the game. We fought all the way to the buzzer. We had a lot of chances to ice the game and we were missing veterans like Al and Kyle. It's tough with new guys stepping in. But I loved the effort tonight and I look for it in Game 4.
&nbsp
What did each of you see on the Horford-Dellavedova play? And what was your reaction to the ruling?
&nbsp
Bazemore: It was a tough call. From my point of view, Dellavedova was down around Al's knees and he retaliated, I think. But it's playoff basketball and we have a good staff that looked at it for about 10 minutes until they got it right. You can't argue with that. A lot of things will be said, but at the end of the game it doesn't matter. We lost Al and we still had a game to play.
&nbsp
Mack: The refs are in a tough spot when you have to make a judgment call like that. Dellavedova plays hard and has a track record for playing like that, but you have to move on.
&nbsp
Both you guys mentioned the long wait for the review. What's going through your mind, what are you thinking during that and how do you deal with that process?
&nbsp
Bazemore: You always think worst case and best case. Worst case he gets ejected so start thinking forward to that and getting ready. We see the replay and see the crowd getting into it. You have to turn your focus to the next step. Can't let it affect you. It's in the back of your mind, but you hope for the best.
&nbsp

Opening statement
&nbsp
Budenholzer: I'm very proud of the way our group competed. I think they gave us chances and opportunities. If we compete like that every possession, that's how we're built, that's the character of our players and we'll expect the same thing going into Game 4.
&nbsp
What were your thoughts on Al Horford's ejection? Do you think he should've been thrown out and how do you think the team responded?
&nbsp
Budenholzer: I'll answer the second question first. I think the team responded well, obviously, competing, giving ourselves a chance. So I think Al was very, just like all of us, proud of the effort of his teammates. I've looked at the play and the officiating in our league is very difficult. From the replays, for me, it's somewhat difficult to see whether his elbow hits the shoulder first or hits the head first. If it hits the shoulder first, then I think it's not something that's an action that deserves ejection. If he hit him in the head, it's an action that deserves ejection.
&nbsp
With LeBron James' offensive struggles to start and only leading by a few points, what did you say to the team?
&nbsp
Budenholzer: It's the playoffs. It's going to be difficult. I think our defense was excellent. We wanted to maintain our defense. If we could take care of the boards, I'd give us a better chance to either extend or maintain our lead. That's the challenge every night, every game. Of course, we'd love to have a bigger lead. But we were pleased with our defense and we were pleased with where we were at that time.
&nbsp
How do you think Jeff Teague responded in this game?
&nbsp
Budenholzer: I thought Jeff was great. His aggressiveness, his ability to get in the paint and make plays in the paint, make a few 3s, he was very good tonight, a lot of good plays by Jeff.
&nbsp
What was your vantage on the Horford-Matthew Dellavedova play?
&nbsp
Budenholzer: I've already answered that question.
&nbsp
Why didn't Pero Antic play until the final minute of the game?
&nbsp
Budenholzer: You're always having to make difficult decisions with who plays. Pero's been a huge part of our team and our success. It's great to have him there ready. I think when Mike Scott spreads the floor, gives us more 3-point shooting, felt that was important. Pero's ready and we will use him whenever we feel like he can help us.
&nbsp
Dennis Schroder didn't see much time tonight. What was your thinking?
&nbsp
Budenholzer: Similar. I think that the ability to make some shots, some perimeter shots and just keep them spread out, play with a little more movement, ball movement, motion. I thought Shelvin (Mack) played well tonight. So we just went with Shelvin. Jeff played a lot. It's just in-game decisions. You have to make hard decisions like that

&nbsp
