what I say below applies to job applications for non academic posts. It is always advisable to attach a covering letter to your CV, stating BRIEFLY why you chose to apply for this particular job and company and what you feel you may contribute to the company. Your CV should start with biographical details [name sex age, address contact details], do not forget to mention your nationality of your work experience is not local [i.e. UK] What should come next is either most recent/relevant to the job experience or qualifications. Should you put your qualifications first or your work experience first? This very much depends on the job, your circumstances and experience. Please do keep it short and to the point. Expand most on the recent or relevant job or experience. If most of it is outside the UK, please take time and care to describe it in terms familiar to a UK reader. it is always a good idea to read the job advert and adjust your CV accordingly. I say it for a good reason: Over the years, I had to read a large number of CVs when we selected candidates for an interview. There were quite a few CVs which clearly did not refer directly to the job specifications. Example: we asked for certain experience, and the CVs or the covering letters did not dwell on this important aspect. Those applications were simply discarded - straight into the paper shredder! good luck
