Eric's strange post-surgery behavior leads him to make a life-altering decision that shocks and worries Annie. The reverend considers another calling when the ministry begins to lose its appeal. His plan to abandon his religious duties is hatched after a new neighbor mistakenly calls him "Mr. Camden." Fed up with everyone bringing their problems to him, Eric becomes more and more apathetic toward his family and community. Meanwhile, Lucy turns to the new associate pastor for advice when she sees Kevin and Roxanne having too much fun dancing at the pool hall. Concerned when he can't find Lucy, Kevin interrupts Simon and Cecilia's date to enlist their help.
The Pool Hall is having a country-sponsored week of events. Lucy and Kevin are going to meet for a date, when Lucy arrives she sees Roxanne and Kevin dancing and laughing. This upsets Lucy so she leaves without telling anyone where she is going. On her way out the door, she bumps into Chandler, the assistant pastor, and he sees that she is upset. He asks her if she needs someone to talk to, she decides that talking would be helpful. Simon and Cecilia are at the Pool Hall on a date too. Kevin interrupts their date to see if they have seen Lucy. She was suppose to meet him almost an hour ago and he is upset that she hasn't shown up yet. After calling the house and learning that she left over an hour ago, Kevin decides that Simon, Cecilia and Roxanne are going to help him look for Lucy. They begin scouring the city in search for Lucy. At the house, Eric is still despondent and lacking the motivation to do anything. Annie tries to get him to go to the Pool Hall for dancing, but he says he doesn't feel like going out. Annie decides that she is going to go by herself. Eric goes to the back porch for some stargazing. In the back yard he finds one of Ruthie's schoolmates, Peter. He threw rocks at the twin's windows and now the twins and Ruthie are talking with him in the back yard. Peter tells Eric that he likes Ruthie and that he heard she couldn't see her boyfriend right now. Peter, new to the neighborhood, calls Eric "Mr. Camden." This throws Eric off and gets him to thinking, that maybe just being Mr. Camden instead of Rev. Camden is the direction that he should start taking in his life. At the church, Chandler and Lucy start to talk about why they want to be pastors. Lucy explains that she likes helping people that she loves what her father has done and all that he has given to others. She believes that her calling is being a child of a pastor and following in his footsteps. Chandler explains that his journey into religion started out as a rebellion against his parents who do not believe in God. Later, he found that he was really interested and liked to help others in their understanding of God. While looking for Lucy, Roxanne and Kevin have a serious conversation. Roxanne tells Kevin that she likes him, but knows that he is in love with Lucy. She does ask him to kiss her just once to make sure that there is nothing between them. Kevin refuses, telling her that he loves Lucy and never wants to kiss another girl again. When the two return to the Camden household, they find Peter inside calling his mom. It seems that his mom locked Peter out while he was in the garage working on a science project. She isn't picking up the phone and this worries Kevin. Roxanne and Kevin take Peter to his house and then accuse his mom of passing out from alcohol or drugs. She is upset by the accusation, explaining that she works very hard all day long as a single parent and she passed out from lack of sleep, not some abuse of a substance. Eric is still on the porch when Annie returns from the Pool Hall. He tells her that he thinks that he is no longer called to be at the church. He wants to try and find something else to do with his life. This upsets Annie, she says that he is only upset because the Elders brought Chandler to the church without his approval; Eric denies this and says that it is something else that just doesn't seem right in his life anymore. Simon and Cecilia return to the Pool Hall. While they are dancing, Cecilia learns that Simon doesn't have a job. She tells him that she works evenings for her father as a janitor for the Public School System. When her Dad comes to pick her up, she gets him to offer Simon a job. Simon accepts. Simon sees Kevin who is very worried that he can't find Lucy and suggests that maybe she is at the church. Kevin goes to the church and finds Chandler and Lucy sharing dinner and talking. Kevin is extremely upset that Lucy was out with Chandler. Lucy tells Kevin that she saw him dancing with Roxanne and didn't like it. Chandler offered to talk and she accepted. Kevin doesn't buy it but tells Lucy that she was only trying to make him jealous. As he storms out of the sanctuary Roxanne comes in and he kisses him in front of Lucy. Lucy is very hurt and upset by his actions. At the house, Roxanne seeks Lucy out and takes the blame for the kiss. She says that she had asked Kevin to kiss her, practically begged him to. Lucy doesn't let her take all the blame, Lucy says she is to blame some too because when she saw Roxanne and Kevin dancing she was upset and wanted to get back at Kevin. She should have called him and let him know where she was so he wouldn't be so worried. Roxanne tells Lucy to go to the Pool Hall and make up with Kevin. Roxanne tells Lucy that she has never seen anyone as in love as Kevin. Lucy goes to the Pool Hall and she and Kevin talk about it and make up for the fight. They end the night dancing together.
