Either literally, to stay out of harm's way, or figuratively, to deal with some business with impartiality. 7. to call it quits also means to make peace with someone. 11. rock solid means very stable (and only that). rock hard means קשה כאבן.​

"To keep close at hand" and "to keep within reach" mean to keep close by for easy use. But "at arm's length" is something else. Some other answers: 4. fair-weather: usually appears in the phrase "fair-weather friend", and means someone who is your friend as long as everything is going well - but will leave you if you need their help (when the "rainy day" comes). 5. la-holic: never heard of this. But if it's spelled LA-holic, I would guess it means someone who's addicted to LA (Los Angeles), loves it very much. 13. Thoroughly.​
