Backstreet Boys Unbreakable (Jive **) If there's anything to be learned from VH1's reality show Mission: Man Band, Lance Bass' book, Out of Sync, and the last year - make that the last five years - of Britney's existence, it's that the Disneyfied pop world is a fragile one. Mouse ears are more of a mouse trap to anyone trying to grow up within the Mickey myth. Odd, then, that the biggest of the '90s boy bands, Backstreet Boys, remain relatively unscathed - a little addiction for one, weight gain for another, only one member down. And he left only last year. Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrel and A.J. McLean sound mostly the same - sonorous, fluid - save for the weird power rocker or two. Or three. See, the white soul barbershop quartet has this new fascination with epically pounding pianos and hair-metal guitars: treacle such as "Inconsolable" and "Helpless When She Smiles." Not a smart move. Power ballads are bad for the environment. The glumly Beatlesque "Unsuspecting Sunday Afternoon" - cowritten by Backstreet with Philly's Billy Mann - nearly topples the band until its uplifting chorus and hosannalike vocals save the day. If these guys could survive Lou Pearlman, they can survive anything
