In 1949 the Zionist government reached its decision regarding the military service laws. They were again revised in the years 1952 - 59 - 63 , which stated that every man aged between 18 and 49 years, and women aged between 18 and 38 (excluding the married) have to undergo military service for a period of 30 months for men, and 24 months for women. In the year 1963, the duration for women was reduced to only 20 months. So we see from the beginning how women are taken away from their natural role. So the Zionist society purposely draws women away from their feminist duties, to a mans world in every meaning of the word. And it is natural for such policies to be a policy for aggression in order to expand, and in doing so eliminating the rights of others, it works on attracting women towards a life that interests it and its benefits. It is known that the Zionist Army tried very hard to ignore the existence of women or their ability in war, for women are conscripted to take away burdens from men and not for her to be a partner in their victories. As with regards to this issue, concerning the use of women “Samoil Rolbant” says: “conscripting women from the age of 18 for 20 months has an important effect regarding the budget!! And without that the Army has to employ thousands more civilians to work as receptionists, typists and administrative staff..) (1) So the women conscript in the Zionist Army receives military training but does not practice a role in this field. “Ben Gurion” admits in one of his important speeches in the Kenneset that: “We have no intention of putting women in Combat Units though we cannot guarantee that when we are attacked and have to defend ourselves that we will not call upon all men and women to the service. (2) This decision that Ben Gurion announced helped a great deal in ignoring the woman’s role, and played down her importance in the military field. She was then taken away from powerful positions and instead given roles that has nothing to do with the military role which she enlisted for in the first place. A researcher called “Tom Badwin” mentions this issue with disgust by saying : “The essence of the military training is to allow new conscripts to experience the hard life that exists in the military specially for women, long days without make up and comfortable clothes.. So female conscription is nothing but an extra put in the Combat Military Forces, where we find most of the conscripts working with pleasure as typists and secretaries in military cases all over Israel, where as the more pretty ones work under officers specially in public relations”. (3) Disappointment and Depression The happiness that Tom Badwin talked about does not cover all women that where taken away from military duties, quite the opposite, we find that those women that where assigned to desk duties where very disappointed. For they where ready to achieve something of value. And to offer a great service to their society, but the male mentality did not allow them to reach their dream, although in 1978 when the first unit, completed training as female pilots to fly “Sky Hawks” they were all put aside due to a report published in 1977 describing that the female conscripts where at a very low esteem, and although there where many vacancies the “female conscripts where not allowed to enroll”. Regarding this issue “Sarah Ligofitch” says: “It is very easy to show that there are many unnecessary female conscripts, because there are many and many unemployed females in the society”. (4) The women were trained in a military order and after their graduation they are assigned to office work, and they mainly end up as drivers for officers. The matter has gone worse, to the extent that some officers use the conscripts to work for their wives, for household work etc. And that is what an American officer who is infact a colonel expressed. This female colonel used to look up to the Zionist conscript as perfect examples, on the basis that she is equal to men in all rights. But after her visit to the Zionist Entity she said: “I see here very surprising scenes, such as an officer´s female driver who works for his wife, and I found what I saw in the Israeli army very hard to comprehend as with regards to women”. (5) The result of that disappointment led the female conscripts to live a state of real unemployment, and that is because there are no real opportunities in war, an opportunity they dreamt of, so they would sit in the military offices wasting time in chatting with the soldiers, which has resulted in mental crisis to most of the female conscripts. The military medical officer Ron Lify said in a meeting to discuss the state of the graduated female conscripts: “Eighty percent of the female conscripts suffer from mental problems during their service, because the educated ones who in their normal lives work as teachers are forced to work in positions much lower than their educated standard, and that causes most of them to feel let down and leads them to a state of depression”. (6) The day of mourning Rahil Tal Shir speaks about the military life that the female conscripts live, and about the hardest military day they go through, the day known as “the day of mourning” were jobs are selected and assigned to the conscripts. One cannot imagine the disappointment and agony each conscript goes through while they are assigned to their posts: telephone operator , typist, guards, driver etc. etc. and a very few that are sent to the Air force, Navy or Intelligence. They are to be brief: women filled with disappointment. For they dreamt of a glorious military future, of a leadership role in war, but the male mentality did not allow them only to work easy jobs, and the reason standing behind that probably lies in the mistrust in handing over difficult missions to a woman. Rahil Tal Shir gives many examples we bring to you a few of them: Tsoui Lify says: I was given the horrific news on the day of mourning, and after that I went through four weeks of training in writing techniques, we were all very sad and depressed during this course. יש המשך.....
