A La Leche League Leader

has studied the subject, and is qualified to give INFORMATION only, and not hands-on help. Most of the work is voluntary and by phone, so of course it is impossible to solve breastfeeding problems by phone, just as it is often difficult to solve them by the forum. She may lead support groups for breastfeeding mothers, and most often has breastfed her own children. Yoetset hanaka, IBCLC has studied the subject much more in depth, and has passed a very difficult board exam, and has had mandatory clinical hours in breastfeeding. She is qualified to give hands-on help, both privately ( for a fee), and in the hospital setting. If you have more difficult problems, you need an IBCLC,​

למדה את הנושא ומוסמכת לתת רק מידע, ולא עזרה מעשית. רוב העבודה נעשית בהתנדבות ובטלפון, כך שכמובן בלתי אפשרי לפתור בעיות הנקה דרך הטלפון, ממש כפי שלעיתים קרובות קשה לפתור אותן באמצעות הפורום הזה. היא יכולה לעמוד בראש קבוצות תמיכה לאימהות מיניקות, ובמרבית המקרים היניקה את ילדיה שלה. יועצת הנקה מוסמכת (IBCLC) למדה את הנושא הרבה יותר לעומק, וצברה שעות קליניות שהן חובה בהדרכת הנקה. היא מוסמכת לתת עזרה מעשית, הן באופן פרטי (בתשלום) והן בסביבת בית-חולים. אם את נתקלת בבעיות קשות יותר, את זקוקה ליועצת הנקה מוסמכת.
