בתור אחד שמגיע מעולם שוק ההון והבנקאות, כדאי שתדע שניו יורק היא (עדיין) בירת הפיננסים של העולם, עשרות אלפי מומחים עם תואר שני כמו אישתך מחפשים עבודה כל שנה בניו יורק, והם מתחרים באלפי אמריקאים מקומים שלא צריכים ויזה וסיימו תואר שני באוניברסיטאות מקומיות.
אלו ואלו מתחרים על מספר בודד של מקומות ורבים לא מוצאים.
ההנחה שלאישתך יהיה קל למצוא עבודה היא רחוקה שנות אור מהמציאות, רוב הסיכוי שגם אם לאישתך תהיה ויזה שמאפשרת עבודה יהיה לך מאד מאד קשה למצוא עבודה בתחום בניו יורק.

Some top universities have special programs where if a student has never studied at a higher education institute before, his grades in high school are not even looked at. The only difference between us was that I had life experience, I was much more knowledgeable, and I was a much better student than they were. I only found it difficult to depend on them when it came to class assignments...

קודם כל תודה רבה על התגובה המשוקעת ועל הניסיון לעזרה
אשתי לא רוצה ללמוד עוד,היא מרגישה שהיא סיימה עם שלב הלימודים בחיים,
במיוחד כשהיא סיימה את הלימודים לפני מעל 5 שנים (היא בת 29).
האם יש לך מידע על אוניברסטאות שמציאות תוכניות כאלו?משהו קצת יותר ספציפי שאני יוכל לבדוק?
אך אני לא בטוח שגם זה פתרון טוב בשבילי כי נכון להיום אין לי בעיה לשפר בגרויות לרמה של 5יח ו5יח הבעיה האמיתית היא שאוניברסטאות כאלו מאוד מאוד יקרות,והסיכוי לקבל בהם מלגה הוא מאוד נמוך.
השאלה שלי הנא אם אני ילמד בקלוג' בינוני ברמה שיספיק לי כסף עליו ואני יוצא ציונים מאוד טובים זה יכפר על העובדה שלמדתי בקולג בינוני ולא בNYU?

Realistic options

Unless your wife is willing to go back to school, your only realistic option is to study for a BA in Israel, and then you can study for an advanced degree in North America. If you are not very wealthy, it's silly to blow your savings on studying for a BA in North America as an international student. However, if you have enough points, your wife could apply for an immigration visa to Canada, and once you have a PR, you would be able to study in Canada for a BA.

For the special program for mature students, google different universities and search for a Bridging Program. In Canada most of the universities have such a program. I believe that such a program also exists in Israel for students over the age of 30.

Once you have graduated, the school that you have graduated from carries more weight than your grades. You don't include your grades on your resume when looking for a job...

I only presented options to somene who is, obviouly, determined to leave Israel.There is nothing insane about a couple who qualifies, to apply for a Canadian PR, and for someone who wants to study, to be able to do so without having to worry about high school grades.

Everyone should be entitled to a second chance in life.

In Canada, you can attend a Bridging Program if you are at least 19 years old and have been away from school for two years. With a PR, he would qualify, and such a program would only cost him as much as two regular university courses.

The Bridging Programs

They are a great opportunity for any mature student over the age of 19 who has done poorly in high school, and who would like to get a university education.

I know a senior University of Toronto professor who has earned a PhD after going through such a program. She told me that she loves to visit her native Australia just to show everyone that a secretary who was not expected to amount to much, managed to get a PhD and to become a well respected member of the academia.
