Field checking in to ´ER´ again for November sweep Thu Aug 29, 2:29 AM ET By Nellie Andreeva LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- Sally Field is returning to NBC´s hit medical drama "ER," from John Wells Prods. and Warner Bros. Television. The two-time Oscar winner is set to reprise her role as Maggie Wyczenski, the mother of nurse Abby Lockhart ( Maura Tierney), in a four-episode arc set to begin during the November sweep. Field´s six-episode stint on the show during the 2000-01 season earned her an Emmy. Her new commitment to the medical drama also extends her relationship with the series´ executive producer John Wells and WBTV. This past season, Field starred in the John Wells Prods./WBTV Supreme Court drama for ABC "The Court," from Wells and Carol Flint. Field´s character is one of two Wyczenski family members who will drop by to visit Lockhart on "ER" this season. Tom Everett Scott recently signed on to play Lockhart´s brother Eric Wyczenski in a multiepisode arc (HR 8/. Also recruited for guest arcs on "ER" this season are Don Cheadle and Leslie Bibb (HR 8/5). Field won best actress Oscars ( news - web sites) for "Norma Rae" (1980) and "Places in the Heart" (1985). The veteran actress will appear in a multiepisode arc on "ER" as Maggie Wyczenski, a character who appeared only during the 2000-01 TV season. Maggie is the bipolar mom of Maura Tierney´s character Abby Lockhart. She will reappear on the series in an episode scheduled to air on the network Nov. 21. Field´s most recent network television appearance was her starring role in midseason ABC entry "The Court," which was dismissed earlier this year after struggling to find an audience. Field recently signed on to make her Broadway debut in Edward Albee´s "The Goat" alongside Bill Irwin.
