להקת החונקים החלה את דרכה בסוף שנות ה 70 כלהקת פאנק, להיטים כמו NICE 'N' SLEAZY ו NO MORE HEROES... ב 1981 הם עידנו את הצליל שלהם והפכו להיות משהו אחר לגמרי, עם האלבום LA FOLIE , והלהיטים GOLDEN BROWN, ו STRANGEW LITTLE GIRL. ב 1983 הופיע האלבום FELINE, מתוכו הופיעו שתי יצירות מופלאות - EUROPEAN FEMAKE ו MIDNIGHT SUMMER DREAM שלפניכם. הלהקה עדיין ממשיכה ליצור היום, אבל ללא הסולן HUGH CORNWELL שפרש מההרכב ב 1990. לאחרונה הופיע אלבום ובו תיעוד של מופע אקוסטי שלו בו הוא מבצע את הלהיטים של החונקים. מומלץ מאוד.
