Slope and your Polar Data
The easiest way to determine the slope with the Polar is to Hit the Lap button at the start of the Hill and then hit the Lap Button again at the top of whatever hill you wish to measure. If you forgot to hit the Lap Button, you can also in the Chart View add a Lap by hitting the Right Mouse Button and Choose "Add Lap/Marker" at the bottom and the top of the hill you wish to measure. In the Polar Software, it will show you the Grade of the Hill when you move the mouse over the area where the Lap was marked, or you can "Right-Click" againn and choose "Lap-Times/Markers" to view the various information for the Lap (in the Altitude Tab), you can view the Slope information. I hope this helps... If you want to know the slope of each 5s/15s/30s measured interval, that is a much longer explanation... But Generally, to find the slope of any angle the formula is : SLOPE= (Differnce in Altitude -meters)/(Difference in Horizontal Distance Travelled- meters) The Horizontal Distance Travelled - you need to figure out! If I want to check the slope of every 15s of my rides, I have an excel file with the formulas already setup... If you want more information or an example of my excel data, let me know
