KYLIE Minogue was yesterday told her treatment for breast cancer should not damage her chances of becoming a mum. Doctors said the disease has not spread to other parts of her body. It means she is unlikely to need chemotherapy — which would have affected her fertility. Kylie, 36, is desperate to have kids. The treatment uses powerful drugs and affects the whole body. But a simple op to take the lump out may not be considered enough to cure Kylie completely. Doctors could still urge her to have a mastectomy — the removal of the whole breast — if she is diagnosed as having a particularly aggressive form of cancer. KYLIE'S MESSAGE "My heartfelt thanks to the incredible number of people who have sent messages of love and support over the last two days. I want to reassure you that I am being well taken care of. Olivier is by my side and I have a lot of family and friends around me. I would also like to extend my best wishes to all of the other women around Australia and around the world dealing with the same illness" She will also be offered a five-week course of radiation therapy to blast the cancer cells in her breast. Close pal Molly Meldrum confirmed yesterday: “They caught it at an early stage and in a thing like this you can have radiotherapy.” Kylie yesterday left hospital in Melbourne to spend time with her family and French actor boyfriend Olivier Martinez, 39, while she decides what treatment to have. She is due to go back into hospital today or tomorrow to begin treatment. Her management released a statement yesterday confirming the latest on her condition. It read: “Kylie is currently undergoing tests at a first-class medical facility in Melbourne in preparation for an operation this week by one of Australia’s leading surgeons. “Thankfully tests so far have confirmed the earlier diagnosis that the cancer appears to be confined to the breast.” And in part of the statement, the star herself thanked her fans for their support. Kylie yesterday received more messages of goodwill, including one from ex-Neighbours babe Delta Goodrem. Aussie Delta, 20, battled a life-threatening lump in her neck two years ago. Delta said: “I just adore her like everyone else. I’ve been there. I’m thinking of her.” Kylie, who turns 37 a week tomorrow, was diagnosed with cancer after feeling exhausted and getting flu-like symptoms including shivering and aching bones.
