Maroon 5.. By Jake Gyllenhaal. I've known [lead singer] Adam, Levin since we were both in diapers. We went to elementary school together. I remember seeing [the guys play at this club called] Dragonfly when we were in high school. They were wearing black-and-white suits with little pinstripe ties, like the Hives. Their music has definitely changed throughout the years. I think it takes good musicians a while to find their sound. Maroon 5 has always been influenced by all different kinds of music, so their sound has evolved. What I really love about Maroon 5 is that they write great pop songs that you can listen to a hundred times over. One of my favorite tracks on Songs About Jane is "She Will Be Loved." It means a lot to me because I remember Adam coming to the set of Moonlight Mile when I was filming and leaving a CD in my trailer with the first version of that song on it. It makes me smile to think that I was one of the first people to ever hear it. I'm not surprised Maroon 5 made it. Their music was written with the intention of being listened to by many, many, many people - and now it is.​
