I might of not being famous, but i know the rulls! Rulls you might sey, are done to remiove them. No I look at your lovely painting and I don´t think you are going to step on them or make a hole in the canvas, so lets go on. The "rulls" are made to help us, in a way, to "cheat" the viewer. After all I paint a house and a tree, on paper. Two dimentions. I add tny blue line a bit red there and the viewr says: How deep! Or your amosions are clear! If I would make these strox in an uncorrect way, the viewer would not even look at my picture. Of course there is not black and white (lituraly) I have a better example. I was born in Jerusalem. I can experess myeslf in English better than in hebrew. Could it be without learning some of the English rulls! Now to work Most of my painting were made from photograps and slides. I nstead of sitting five hours in a corner in Safad, as I used to do I took 50 slides. At home I screened the slides on the wall and imagined to myself that I was in.......... Of course there is the other technic, you put your paper on the wall and start the lines from that point. I used it more on women portreits I made at my last paing iyears. In that case, sometimes I screened on the easel, giving himm an engle and created a strange face. I will wite saperatly on each painting. I start with the cows: I think Avidan, you felt you must paint eveything that was there. The advantage of the painter on the photographer, is, that the painter can choose wich cow to paint and which to ignor. There are several plans here that help us, the viewers, to know what is going on. Plan one: near us the cow Plane two - the meadow. plane three the trees, I think you bigger mistake they are hiding if you will ad seither yellow to warm them or in the back a little blue, they will reach their proper place in the picturthey are near the meadow pretty far from the hills. Plan three the hills plan four the sky. Threr is an exellent tool, I made itb with my fingers some are making it with a small piece of paper with a rectangle hole- just like the hole in the camera that helps you choose the frams of the picture. You are lucky Avidan, Because it is an oil paint you can go over and over, without ruining the painting! I must tell you again that I love your painting otherwise I would not write all this. I will upload some ideas I have abot this painting. I do not know if you know, when you paint with Zinc White you get transperent white, if you want a total cover use Titanium White. Because I do not have the right colors I had to use pen . suggestion one cows in the meadow. in the back their are trees. In the backround far awy hard to see, hugh mauntains.with a glimpse to the sky- far away! Suggesion two The meadow need more quit colors because in thi picture I emphasis the hugh hills Please note th x the two treesthat cuting the meadow and provoking the hill like saying, we are small trees but in the eye of the viewer we are huge or they might say: "We are the connection between the different plans of this painting Suggesion three and last paint the cow and the trees. When I painted with acrilic I used to paint the background with Supercryl This is folowing a way of thinking of a pastel painter, I shall explain it in a sapperate letter. You can paint the background in a none white color; for this painting I would try on blue violet or yellow, a whole new game! Ababi Sharon Glaze addict Kibbutz Shoval Israel
