Alanis Morissette will continue her part-time acting career with a starring role in the off-Broadway play The Exonerated. Alanis will appear in the play between December 2 and 7. The play is based on stories of inmates of death row and their views on life. After spending time between two and 22 years on death row, all of the inmates featured in the story were exonerated. Alanis will play 'exoneree' Sunny Jacobs. Sunny was sentenced to death for killing two police officers and spent five years on death row and a total of 16 years in prison before she was exonerated. Her husband Jesse was also sentenced to death and executed before evidence turned up that proved both their innocence. Sunny now lectures across America on the topic of injustice in the American judicial system. You can see Alanis is The Exonerated at the 45 Bleecker Theater, 45 Bleecker Street, in New York. Alanis will also have a new album early in 2004. At her website she says "it will come out in the New Year (Feb). I love it. And I look forward to sharing it in the spirit that it was written, to define and get a quick snapshot of where I'm at in this particular era of my life".
