Worldtour on a R1 By Sjaak Lucassen (Netherlands) and a YZF-R1 (2001) Location: Morocco Model: Yamaha YZF-R1 Production year: 2001 On March the 4th 2001 I left Holland for a 3 year adventure around the world, on my Yamaha YZF-R1! I customized my bike by halving the seat to leave room for an aluminum storage box, fitted an Cyclelok alarm and used every free inch of space for storing all my belongings. Since then I have ridden through France and Spain where I took the ferry to Africa and crossed the Sahara Desert, going down the west coast of Africa. From South Africa I took a boat to South America. After that I will visit Mexico, cross the USA and from North-America travel through Russia, China and the Middle East. I will finally arrive back in The Netherlands somewhere around 2005! So far my R1 has not only been extremely reliable but also attracted a lot of attention along the way!
