UK - p86 form - your opinion

I am legally in the UK for a couple of weeks, my employer asked me to fill out the p86 form.Do they check with income tax authorities" in Israel, Do I have to declare on my royalties on which I pay tax in Israel? but don't want the hussle to deal with both tax authorities. any good suggestions? what about my intentions (to settle here or not) what is the best thing to write there? thanks

Ask the Inland Revenue

From my experience the Inland Revenue will give you good honest advice. They will advise you on the best course of action even if it means you end up paying less tax into their coffers. Here the concept of "public service" actually means something. However, you do need to ask the right questions, so I suggest you do a bit of research before contacting them. However, if you're here for just two weeks are you really employed in the UK? Are you sure there is an employer - employee relationship? Or did you mean to say that you have been here for just two weeks, but will be staying for longer on a work permit? If the latter is the case then make sure you understand the difference between being resident here and being domiciled here. "Domiciled" is a much stronger definition and means that you have severed all ties with your country of origin (Israel). Being considered "resident" only can be actually advantageous in some cases although you have to provide much more details about your current assets. If you have a lot of money / assets outside the UK or a significant income that arises from work you performed before coming here I suggest you contact an accountant who would help you minimise you tax liability. My personal view, assuming you are here on a work permit, is that you cannot claim to be domiciled here since your stay here is not without restrictions. At any rate there is a tax treaty between Israel and the UK so you don't have to pay tax twice in any event.

Quite possibly

I didn't say you had any problems. I was just trying to point out that anybody entering to UK for the first time (which you did at some point) is required to fill in that form (P86). Since as you're saying that your tax affairs seem to be in perfect order then you must have completed the said form at some point in the past.
