passport extension question
Hi,
I'm sorry I can't type in Hebrew. I'm an Israeli citizen living in Ireland on residential status (I don't yet have enough years to apply for Irish citizenship, so the Israeli one is the only one I hold). I applied to get my passport extended via the Israeli embassy and today was told by them that I may not be able to get a full extension on it (10 years, I believe) on account of me not living in Israel.
Needless to say that was a surprise for me. This is the only citizenship I have and yes, I made a choice not to live in Israel, but I thought I was free to choose without losing my passport entitlements? Especially bearing in mind my husband is Irish and does not want to live in Israel. I just wanted to ask you if it's common practice and if one of you had to renew their Israeli passport due to lack of another citizenship, how did you get it done, how long did you get it renewed for?
Thank you.
