This Saturday in a Nutshell
Hi all, I'm in London and haven't the time for a full review, but here's a brief description of this weekend in college football: It was all Michigan in Southbend as #11 Michigan routed #2 Notre Dame on the road 47 - 21. This is the most points scored by an opponent in Notre Dame stadium since 1960. Chad Henne and Mario Manningham connected 3 times for TDs, and add to that 3 interceptions on Brady Quinn and a fumble return for a TD by Lamar Woodley and you have the whole story, or at least its skeleton. #1 Ohio state had an easy time in a 37 - 7 win over Cincinnati #3 Auburn beat #6 LSU in the baseball score of 7 - 3. #4 USC beat #19 Nebraska 28 - 10. #5 West Virginia beat Maryland on Thursday 45 - 24 #7 Florida beat #13 Tennessee in a close one 21 - 20 #8 Texas beat Rice 52 - 7 The shocker of the day, except for Michigan's win, was Clemson's big upset over #9 Florida State 27 -20 #12 Louisville performed big time against #17 Miami and routed the Canes 31 - 7. #18 Oregon survived in the last minute to defeat #15 Oklahoma 34 - 33. #16 Iowa beat Iowa State 27 - 17 #20 TCU beat #24 Texas Tech 12 - 3 All other ranked teams had no problems in their games and won. (Georgia, Virginia Tech, Arizona State, California, Penn State and Boston College). Main changes expected in the AP poll are: Michigan will go up to around # 4 - #6 and will receive a few votes for 1st place. Louisville will jump to about #8 or #9 USC and Auburn will share #2 and #3, pick the order. Notre Dame will go down to the vicinity of #11 - #14 LSU will drop to about #12 - #15 Florida state will fall to about #20 Oregon will climb to #12 - #14 Clemson may return to the poll again Gotta go now, see y'all.
