אתמול צפיתי בראיון עם הבת של דיק צ'יני שהיא לסבית ואקטיביסטית בעייניני להט"ב אבל היא עובדת בשביל המפלגה הרפובליקנת של אביה ותומכת בג'ורג בוש. עם כל הפתיחות וגמישות הדעת לא ממש הצלחתי ליישב את הדברים..מה אתם חושבים?

And it won't let me write in Hebrew. I read about the stuff she said. I find it very hard to square her activism and her lesbianism with the reactionary attitude of the Bush administration and LGBT rights in the US. I can fully understand the aspect of a daughter who loves her father on a personal level and sees a different side of him. However, I don't see the need to take it any further than the personal level. You don't need to support your father politically (see Olmert and his family for an example of how you can love on a personal level, but differ politically and ideologically). If she really is an LGBT activist then which Republican values exactly correspond with what she's fighting for? If she really is a Republican then which LGBT rights struggle does she see as just and legitimate and fitting in with the extremely narrow and fundamentalist Christian inspired vision of the family? How can she live with such an internal dissonance? And I haven't even started about the kind of empathy, liberalism, solidarity, and whole personal/political world view that is at the basis of so many liberation movements (including LGBT rights) and that is diametrically opposed to every single policy that Bush has been pushing down the whole worlds throats... That must be one hell of a mixed up kid.​
