להקת פלטינה, שפעלה בישראל בשנות השבעים ועשתה ג'אז-רוק, ביצעה פעם קטע שנקרא "תקווה" - נשמע כמו הגרסה הישראלית למהווישנו. זה בגלל שהגיטריסט שלהם, חיים קריו, העריץ את מקלפלין. הקטע 'תקווה' יצא לאחרונה על דיסק בחברת מיו רקורדס.
A fusion monster, led by John Mclaughlin after he had left Miles Davis' group. Incredible, fiery, passionate and sophisticated. If you need any recommendations: Inner Mounting Flame Birds of Fire these are the better known releases by this band and in my opinion are the best. Afterwards Mclaughlin had replaced some members (Goodman/Ponty for example) and the sound followed accordingly. Apocalypse is in my opinion the best release from this line-up.
