London, people from the media industry?

Hi,
I recently moved to London and I would love to meet with people in general but also from the media industry.
Im a freelance video editor, searching a job and very new to the system in the UK.
I dont know here many people and it would be nice to get in contact with someone in general.

I wont mind to start with an internship, Im just not sure how the system works here for freelancers in this field and would like to hear some more information from someone that made it already.
Besides, like in Israel, you mostly need connections to bring you in, and that would be great to find.
