Israelis in Heusden/Amit Ne´eman
Yesterday night - Nacht van de Atletiek, which used to be in Hechtel and now takes place in the nearby village of Heusden, started in a nice and warm weather, around 25 degrees. Noam Darsa ran the C heat of 800m in 1:54.20 , after him - Itay Magidi and Tsachi Cohen ran the C heat of 1500m. Itay was ahead at the earlier stages of the race , but after passing the 1200m in 3:05 / 3:06.5 respectively - Tsachi managed to finish stronger, passing Itay at the last curve. At that time the weather changed completely within a few minutes.Dark clouds entered and soon started a rainy thunderstorm.That caused a 20min delay in competition, after which the meet director decided there was no way or reason to wait for better weather, so Nili´s 5000m started.Beside herself - in the race competed Asmae Laghzaoui (who won in 14:51) O´sullivan and Runyan , all against the unbelievably stormy conditions. Nili actually surprised us all, running a couragous run and finished in a new Israeli record of 16:09.88e About an hour later - at 23:03 the last event of the meet included me - for a 5000m. Although the rain fooled us as if it . stopped - it only regained force while I ran. Passing the 3000 in 9:05min I managed to finish in 15:17.81 , my best in 3 years.
