Having worked in Singapore in the past, I can advise you that it is "perfectly illegal" for a foreigner to work in Singapore without a work permit. If you are caught by the local police, you WILL spend time in jail. Singapore is well known as a law abiding state. I doubt it very much indeed if you can get a work permit to for a simple salesperson job in a shopping centre. only migrants with skills -'talented individual' - are welcomed, and an employer must pay a levy on such employment. there are plenty of local applicants for such a non skilled position- and they speak the 3 local languages you don't. [your English is not very good either..] Malaysians and Indonesians get special permits for domestic and building works, but their employment conditions are horrid. you would not be able to do such work. The above applies not only to Isrealis but to any other non singapore national attempting to find employment in Singapore. Ilook at the EXPAT link, and see how 'serious' this guy really is... regards

Mostly correct

There's no levy on employment pass holders. There's another problem with working like this in Singapore and that is the visa. You only get 30 days max tourist visa (which obviously you can't work with) at the airport and can extend it maybe 2-3 times before being asked politely but firmly to leave. I wouldn't mess with the authorities in Sg. Btw, I am almost certain I saw those Israelis selling the dead sea products in Suntec City mall. They have a tiny stall in the middle of the walkway.

Some advise

Hi, Regarding some of the other comments that you received: 1. there is no levy on employment passes in Singapore 2. You can get a 30 days visa when you come in, and if you declare that it is a business trip then there is no problem to work during those 30 days. 3. There is a big problem in Singapore to find retail staff. Huge problem. Nowadays most retail sales people are non singaporean, but are foreign workers from Malaysia, Philiphines so being a foreign sales staff is not so rare. 4. you will have to demand from your employer to apply for a Q type employment pass (which is a low sallary pass) for sallaries about 2000 dollars. it should take about 3 weeks to get the pass, easily now regarding the dead sea in singapore: there is only one legal company that distributes here the dead sea product..and acts as an official distributor of some of the bigger brands There is anothe company selling a product called Seaspa and I would be carefull working with them, not saying that you shouldn't, but be very carefull.

misleading info

Sorry, but I strongly disagree. read all about it in the following link: singe Q had been replaced by P. note the levy. I stress that what I said applies to general employment conditions, and I stress again that in Singapore, if you are caught doing illegal work, you will end up with a real jail term- not a very pleasant experiece. So, think every carefully, ensure that you actually have a 'P' employment visa- before even trying. no comment on the low wages, and the comparison to the low wage employment from other ASEAN countries. regards

wrong wrong wrong

:( You are wrong. Check out the official manpower office web site: http://www.mom.gov.sg/publish/momportal/en/communities/work_pass/employment_pass/about_the_pass.html#Passtypes Q1 is the lowest pass 2500SGD p2 is next p1 is the highest And its been like this for about 8 years at least Regarding illegal employment I totally agree with you! Its not the place to work illegaly! But if you come in under a business trip then you can work like any other business man that comes for meetings/conference/training or any other type of work.
