Simple Plan - Tour Talk April 19th, 2005 Canadian pop-punk rockers Simple Plan are hitting the road this summer, opening for their pal's Good Charlotte on the much-awaited "Noise to The World" tour. Front man Pierre Bouvier told Vh1 about some of the band's best road trip nuggets. VH1: What's the one must-have item on your rider? Pierre Bouvier: We have to have Skippy peanut butter, strawberry or raspberry jelly, and bread. Only creamy peanut butter though, never the chunky. VH1: What was the best live show you ever saw? PB: I just saw one of the best live show's I've ever seen in my life. We were in L.A. and I went to see a show called National Lampoon's Metal School. It's a cover band who comes out dressed like the '80s in big-ass hair, and they're playing covers all night. They're basically acting and they all play a different character - characters like Trixie Fox. It's like watching a joke band but they're actually amazing. They're great performers and they're funny as hell. They're going to have a movie coming out about them soon. What's your greatest groupie story? PB: I can't tell you that! The best stories are the ones when girls come up to you and tell you they want to sleep with you and then say don't worry, we're not a groupies. Like, "I'm not that kind of girl." It's like "You just told me you wanted to sleep with me and you don't even know me, but you're not a groupie?" What do you miss most about home when you're on the road? PB: My friends and family and this Lebanese restaurant in Montreal called Amir. It's a chain and they have these amazing sandwiches and I go there all the time it's really, really good. They've got great hummus and garlic sauce and chicken sandwiches with turnips in them. Describe the sleaziest venue you ever played in. PB: A place called The Shelter in Detroit. It's where Eminem did Eight Mile. We played there a long time ago. It's a really dirty rock club in the basement and you know there's puke all over the walls. It's really small and smelly, but it was actually one of the best shows we ever played so it's a cool venue. What do you get absolutely sick of by the time a tour is over? PB: The guys in the band. The last couple days we're always packing our stuff on the bus and everyone's got their sh*t laying everywhere and I'm always like, "Goddamnit, get the hell away from me." But then usually it takes about two days [at home] and I'm like, "Hey guys, what's up, you wanna go for a beer?" What's the craziest thing that ever happened to Simple Plan on the road? PB: We were driving to Chicago and the bus driver fell asleep and drove into a ditch on the side of the road and the bus almost tipped over. Luckily we survived but it was pretty scary. It didn't take too long to get a new bus driver. What's the most fanatic thing you ever experienced from a fan? PB: There was a girl who had tattooed lyrics of one of our songs on her arm. It was a song called "Meet You There," and it's about someone passing away. She had dedicated it to a friend of hers who killed herself, so it was actually pretty cool. לקוח מ: http://www.vh1.com/artists/interview/1500403/04192005/simple_plan.jhtml
