She´s leaving the inn´s Thanksgiving dinner in Bob´s hands and she´s worried that if nothing goes right she will be at fault because she trained Bob and he´s substituting for her. Lorelai tries to calm Sookie down as Michel watches and laughs. Emily comes into the kitchen. Lorelai hasn´t been returning her calls for the past few weeks. Emily was worried because Lorelai has cancelled the past two Friday dinners, claiming she was sick. Emily invites Lorelai to Thanksgiving tomorrow at her house. Lorelai tries to explain that she and Rory already have plans but Emily says she and Richard will be leaving town the day after Thanksgiving and will be out of town for the rest of the year. After class, Rory asks what everyone´s doing for Thanksgiving. Louise is spending the day with her father -- in jail. Paris tried to volunteer at a soup kitchen but they all had enough volunteers. Madeline plans to finish filling out college applications. She still has to do her safety schools. Paris reminds them that she told the girls they should be done by now. She had her Harvard application and her backup schools done weeks ago. Rory is worried about their planned stops at four Thanksgiving dinners. She and Lorelai are going to Sookie´s, Lane´s, Luke´s, and now the grandparents´ dinners. Lorelai decides they can skip Luke´s. Walking past Le Chat Club, they see Kirk leaving the store with his hands full of cat items. He got a cat from a woman at the grocery store and he named it Kirk. Lorelai and Rory go into Luke´s. When Lorelai explains that they can´t make his dinner, Luke seems disappointed but tries to cover his feelings. Lorelai fakes a phone call from her mother and tells Luke they can work his dinner into the schedule after all. Rory´s still worried about eating four dinners. On Thanksgiving, Lorelai and Rory stop at the market. Lorelai goes in to buy Tums while Rory looks at the flowers outside. Jess walks up to Rory and kisses her but Rory pulls away and takes him away from Doose´s front window to kiss him. She thinks it´s too early flaunt their relationship where Dean might see them. Jess disagrees but agrees to go along with her. Kirk´s inside the market buying first aid supplies. Cat Kirk scratched him. They aren´t getting along well. Turning away from Kirk, Lorelai spots Dean working and goes over to him. Dean, feeling uncomfortable, doesn´t want to talk to her and says he has to get back to work. Lorelai tells him that they live in such a small town it´s too hard to avoid each other. She says he was a great first boyfriend for Rory and just because he and Rory broke up doesn´t mean he and Lorelai can´t be friends. Lorelai and Rory go to the Kims´ for their first dinner. Dave´s there playing guitar. Lane explains how she tricked Mrs. Kim into inviting hiring him. She placed a fake ad from Dave, a local Christian guitar player seeking Christian accompaniment gigs, on the bulletin board at their church. She wants Mrs. Kim to get to know him before they date so she will already approve by the time she and Dave go out. Then she won´t have to hide anything. Having eaten tofurkey at Mrs. Kim´s dinner, Lorelai and Rory next stop at Sookie´s for deep-fried turkey. Sookie agreed in advance to let Jackson cook the turkey, not knowing he wanted to deep-fry it. After a countdown from Jackson´s friends, the turkey goes into the fryer. Lorelai says at least this got Sookie´s mind off the inn´s dinner. Now Sookie worries that Bob is doing something equally awful. Next stop: Luke´s. Babette and Morey are already eating, as is Kirk, who has scratches from Cat Kirk on over sixty percent of his body. Luke and Jess join Lorelai and Rory at the table. When Luke gets up to get Lorelai more marshmallows and Jess goes to refill coffees, Lorelai criticizes Jess and Rory´s kiss. Rory says she´s not good with public displays. She feels like everyone is watching her. The whole town is used to seeing her with Dean and now she´s with Jess. Lorelai says everyone will adjust in time. Lorelai and Rory finally arrive at Emily´s dinner. They have visitors from France. Dinner conversation turns to college applications. Some of the other guests have relatives Rory´s age and they ask where she´s applied. When Rory says she´s counting on Harvard, they ask about her backup schools. Rory tries to be vague about her choices but they want specifics. Reluctantly, Rory admits that she applied to Yale, among others. Richard is pleased; Lorelai is not. Lorelai accuses him of forcing Rory´s hand. Rory says she can live at home if she goes to Yale. Lorelai remembers Emily suggested that to her and turns on Emily. They get into an argument that ends with Lorelai leaving the table. Emily follows Lorelai outside. Emily tries to reassure her that Yale is just a backup and they had nothing to do with Rory applying but Lorelai won´t hear it. Emily says Lorelai can´t even let Rory have one piece of their lives, even if it´s her choice, and goes back inside. Mrs. Kim shows her guests out. Dave leaves but forgets his Bible. After getting permission from her mother, Lane runs after him. She says the charade and the fake flyer were too much but Dave says it´s fine and kisses her. He leaves, promising to call her tomorrow. Lorelai tells Rory that whichever college she chooses it´s going to be great, but she gets a gnawing feeling in her gut whenever her parents get involved in anything. They pass by Sookie´s, where Jackson and his drunken guests are deep-frying everything: vegetables, cake, butter, salt. They go to Luke´s for coffee. Rory joins Jess in taking out the trash and kisses him then runs back inside. Jess turns and sees that Dean was watching from down the street. Dean´s angry and gets in Jess´ face. Jess refuses to fight Dean, saying Rory will think it´s his fault. Dean says he was going to just stay out of everyone´s way but now he´s changed his mind, it´s his town, he´s not hiding. He doesn´t have to be calm around Jess anymore and he likes that."
