the most special time ever... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- what a world... i mean... what a time to be alive... right now... at this moment... in a place where i can write my thoughts while listening to beautiful stream of reggae music courtesy of radio zion on the i Tunes radio section... and all of this for free... this communication... it's so wonderful and immediate. Tonight we played in london, our second show at the shepards bush empire... beautiful show... beautiful crowd... It felt like we were back in Ryan's garage in 11th grade of high school... So free and connected. It doesn't get any better than that... or I should say, It hasn't gotten any better than that... yet... So here I am... and in a day of incredibly exciting and comforting experiences and conversations and thoughts the most inspiring thing so far... the thing that got me to turn on my computer at 5:49 in the morning instead of falling asleep was this... courtesy of Adbusters magazine... There is a person who is in charge of the briefcase of codes that would allow the president of the united states to initiate a nuclear launch... This is a fact, this briefcase exists, the codes exist... it is a possibility that the president could authorize the use of weapons of mass distruction... Now, the incredible idea is that this assistant should have the key to the briefcase surgically implanted in their chest, right next to the heart, and that part of the process of authorizing the launch is that the president must personally kill this one person in cold blood and remove the key before he is allowed to send thousands and thousands to their death... it's a heavy idea, but it puts in perspective how sad it is that some humans in a quest for power and control are able to make brutal decisions in perfect safety... that's how they are able to do these horrible things... but the real question is... why are they so power hungry in the first place? i put this question to you tonight in the hopes that just by thinking about it we lower the chances that a horrible cycle of human tragedy and oppression and greed will continue in the same fashion that is has in many countries for many many years now...
