She explains, "I'm a good actor so I know how to pretend to cook. "But I can't do it in real life. I'm taking cooking lessons now though, and learning simple lessons."

Oscar-winning actress ANGELINA JOLIE took her newly adopted daughter ZAHARA MARLEY out on one of her very first day trips yesterday (20JUL05) - to a bookstore. The GIRL, INTERRUPTED star, who adopted the six-month-old orphan in Ethiopia earlier this month (JUL05), took Zahara - whose head was covered in a woolly hat to protect her from the scorching sun - to popular franchise Barnes + Noble in Malibu, California. Jolie and her new daughter later headed off to collect Jolie's three-year-old adopted son MADDOX from school. An onlooker says, "Angelina and Zahara already look like mother and daughter. It's amazing how quickly they both look comfortable with each other. "And even though they don't share the same genes, the baby also looks like she'll grow up to be just as beautiful as her mom." Sources say Jolie and her two children have been staying with BRAD PITT in his coastal mansion since returning to California from New York City on Friday
A pediatrics expert has hailed ANGELINA JOLIE for saving her adopted daughter ZAHARA MARLEY from almost certain death in an Ethiopian orphanage. On her arrival in the US earlier this month (JUL05), the six-month-old baby was diagnosed with a salmonella intestinal infection as well as dehydration and malnutrition - conditions which would have led to her death in her African homeland. Zahara made a full recovery following treatment at New York's Presbyterian Hospital - and DR JANE ARONSON, who specialises in healthcare for infants adopted overseas, is convinced Jolie saved her daughter's life from the evidence she saw. She says, "Children with those conditions living in orphanages in developing nations can die quickly without the proper medical interventions. That would have been Zahara's fate had she not been adopted by Angelina and brought to the US for medical care. "In spite of her illness, she was very sweet, engaging and responsive. When she regained her strength she began to smile and coo. She was very connected to her mother during her hospitalisation. "It was clear that the love and devotion of her mother along with the antibiotics, intravenous fluids, and formula helped her to recover."

It is clear Angelina is making a smooth transition to life as a mother-of-two, as she was also seen deftly carrying four-year-old son Maddox on her hip while cradling Zahara close to her heart. After making the long trip to the US from an Ethiopian orphanage in early July, five-month-old Zahara endured a week-long stay in a New York hospital. She was also treated for dehydration and malnutriton after it was discovered she was suffering from salmonella. "In spite of her illness, she was very sweet, engaging and responsive," the baby's pediatrician Dr Jane Aronson, has been quoted as saying. "When she regained her strength she began to smile and coo. She was very connected to (Angelina) during her hospitalisation.
