Take a look!
Grr...sorry to break in on this but that's simply not true. _ABADÁ_ (with the capitals!) are the initials of _Associação Brasileira de Apoio e Desenvolvimento da Arte(-Capoeira)_, roughly meaning 'brazilian association of support and development of the art (-capoeira)'. _abadá_ (lower case letters!) is originally an afro-brazilian term for a broad garment for men, reaching the ankle. It is open from the sides and can have needleworks on the neck and upon the breast. Later this term came into use among Iorubá-folk, who used the term for a sort of outfit their fishermen and seamen (no, not semen!!!) and sailors wore, consisting of broad shirt and pants. How this term became the one used by capoeiristas as the name of the white training pants, I do not know. But here's another amusing anecdote: Our group's names is practially 'pants', and its founder and president is named Camisa 'shirt'!!! LOL!
