I wrote a poem

As a part of my Social Studies at school, we had to write an essay, a poem or a short story about our future. Well, I hate writing an essay or a short story so, I wrote a poem... I got 100% on that poem..:) Here is the poem. Our future by Looovely Girl Our future is not so bright. In a few year, there will be only computers' fight. The viruses will be our only enemy and on that, people will get a Grammy. Our air will no be so clear and our plants and animals will disappear. China will be number one and all the white people will almost be gone. The cars will be without wheels and more people won't provide more meals. As the world will grow, people will find their income is so low. Our world is going to melt because no one cared. No one follow what he felt because he was so scared. Any comments? The teacher wrote: "Is there any hope?" Well I think there is but, it depends on us.. If we continue to destroy our world, then there will be no hope.. but if we do something to stop this disaster, then there will be hope...

I liked the idea, can you explain to me why

you included the line "and all the white people will almost be gone"?

well...

i think all the white people will be gone beacause China has a lot of birth.. i mean there are many Chinese people and Chinese people are defined as a yellow skin.. if you know what I mean... Another example is in Africa. There are many births.. which both chinese and African people will lead to over population and the white people, on the other hand, don't have as many as births like Africa and China...

African birthrate is actually not that

significant, But I guess my question was why it is included in that vision of apocalypse? I mean, if it happens in natural circumstances, what's the problem with it?

mm..

I did not say it is a problem... I just wrote what i think.. well that was basically the whole assignment about... writing about how do we think our future is gonna look like..

but

you started the poem with "our future is not so bright"...so it seems like the idea that there will be no more white people a bad thing.i'm sure you didn't mean it this way though

ok... just to make it clear

you, like many others in the world fearing the Chinese phenomena, you seem to miss one crucial features; Like many of us know, Communist China has pushed for many years its one Child policy, allowing families in the cities to only have one child. Being communist, the chinese didn't think too much ahead and thus didn't realize the devastating consequences of their policy. In effect, China is stuck with a whole generation which is a) much smaller than the normal generation size b) consisting of too many males, as most families choose their one and only child to be a male, in the hope he could provide for his parents in due time. What we will see in 30 years or so is a massive shrink in the Chinese population is the current older generation dies, while being unable to recover, as not enough females will carry new chings. So basically china will be facing the same problems Japan is currently facing and soon Europe (as well as Russia with its negative birth rates). The main problem arises from the fact that the dependency ratio (the ration between people in the work force and people on wealth fare benefits) will increase greatly, where we will have to be both more productive and more efficient, to support all those soon to retire baby boomers. If indeed you want to talk about a country whose skin country in likely to dominate the world, think of India. Currently 1.05 billion (or so) and growing by the day. Estimates say India will surpass China in 2020.... That ought to be fun! (If anyone wants to read about it, grab the Economist from 3 or 4 weeks ago, its cover story reads: "America’s fear of China" pretty good stuff)
