Hi, well my name is Sharon I'm 19 years old almost 20. I think that this forum is great because we can practice our english. Well I wil tell my story: I love english really but i have a big probleam with english. In school I had a teacher she was so mean and a bad person. So every time that I need to speak I remember those days so I prefere to listen but i never speak. so the proplem is that I don't know how good is my english. I see TV without subtitles and I undestand english but i never spoke with a person face to face. I hope one day to be able to speak lol without thinking about my teacher. first of you usually watch TV, not see teachers like the one you are talking about forget why they became teachers in the first place - to teach! and all your teacher gave you is trauma and inability to speak English... you should really try and forget her! your English is good so don't be ashamed

Your English is not bad at all, and school has the tendency to do exactly the opposite of what it is dsigned to do. It scares people away from learning. So tell us... What's your favorite TV show? I don't have a TV so I live off of others' stories

try Coupling, it's the funniest, and there's even an episode on the first series that includes a non-english-speaking-Israeli and the misunderstanding that occurs as a result of that. But hey, beacuse it's a BBC show, it may be just my Anglophilic self speaking

The West Wing has Sorkin! only the best writter ever... And besides, even the way she got to be president there is annoying. She wasn't elected, is feminism without really being feministic. I mean, don't get me wrong, I am an anarchist, i think that governments almost always do more harm than good, but if we 're gonna have a government, let it be written by Aaron Sorkin.

Commander in Chief is nice, but

It's not as well written. Yes, the idea of a woman in the Oval Office is great, and there are great scenes and dilemmas in the show, and as the show develope. But, The West Wing is much greater in giving you the inside manerrism of political life in the highest level, it's brilliantly photographed and has a wonderful rythem to it. And anyhow, hopefully, in november 2008 there will be a woman elected president in the USA. Oh, and both Bartlet and Santos, are much more Lefties than Allan, I would have elected Bartlet/Santos if they ran head to head with Allan.
