i need help withe something... how do i say this sentence? the family goes to a family trip or the family go to a family trip it's go or goes?

it's might sound a twelve years old

boy question.. but i had an exam today... i didnt know if family is it or they.. can anyone explain what exactly "it" refer to? tenx :)

OK... here's your answer

First of all, you go ON a trip and not TO a trip. Secondly, the word "family", although describing a group of people, is used in most cases as a singular noun. So I would definitely say "The family GOES on a trip" (rather rhan GO), but I know a few Brits who might object to this.​
