I have a question, maby one of you can help me---in starworld channel there are some promos for the channel's programs. the hour of the programs escorted by "AM (morning)/PM (evening)" signs. My question is how can I match the hours between USA to Israel? Thank you for your help, Have a nice evening everyone, Gali PS-please correct my English If I were wrong.

if i understand you correctly

the AM refers to western times and the PM to either central times or eastern times, most likely central. anyways, take the western times and add 10 hours to it. and: mabye* the hour of the program IS* escorted if i WAS wrong*

Refer to whether the show is at the morning or noon and night. I have no idea how you reached the conclusion they are speaking of timezones in North America...

i live in canada

western canada has central and pacific times, and when there's a show promo it says " 6 PM, 9 central". (6 refering to pacific timers, 9 to central. the times are made up, it's an hour difference(

But wasn't your first association that AM & PM would refer to morning and evening rather than timezones? Especially since you live in Canada and not Israel...

was shown twice a day (as in, they never tell you the times of the reruns)

They'll say: "Oprah! Today at 10AM" or "Smallville! Tonight at 8PM"

But sometimes in European channels, they give you a few timezones, just like they do in the states. But that's not related to her question... She just wanted to know what AM PM meant, and how does she know when a show airs in Israel, given the fact they give the show's time in some Asian timezone.

She did want to know the time difference between USA and Israel (that's really irrelevant because Star World is not an american channel, but she didn't know that), and she also wanted to know what the AM & PM meant - AM morning PM noon and night.

Starworld is not an American channel

It's an Asian channel, I'm not sure exactly where it's based, but if I recall correctly, we are an hour or two behind in timezone.

I got the channel’s schedule from the internet, and I noticed that in Israel we have the Star World channel only, meaning we don't have the movie channel and others... I guess that it's too expensive for the channels companies...I don't like the idea... what about you?

About times in the US

Clock times in the US are based on a 12 hours system called AM/PM (ante meridiem, or before the midday and post meridiem). In Israel we represent times in a 24 hours system meaning 0/24 is midnight and counting on till 23. So in AM/PM, if it's before midday, you add AM and if it's after you add PM. For example, if I wanted to say 10 in the morning, i'll say 10AM and if i want to say 5 in the afternoon, i'll say 5PM. About time zones: In USA there are 4 timezones. EST = Eastern Standard Time CST = Central ST MST = Mountain ST PST = Pacific ST EST is for the eastern coast such as new york and PST for california (west coast). EST = GMT-5 hours or Israel time - 7 hours. From therer you just substract one more hour each time, meaning PST is Israel time-10. So if you have a show let's say Lost airing 9/8pm central that means it airs 9 pm EST and 8 PM CST and in israel it's 03:00 oclock in the night. Enjoy!​
