Greetings from England

Hello everybody. My name is Ofek and I´m currently studying at a University in England. This has been the second time I had the privilage of learning SQL. In both occasions the class was taught SQL after a certain degree of programming learning, and both times I found out the programming skills of the students got better after learning SQL. Do you think there is a connection here? I think so because When learning SQL you start to think like a computer and the way works and retrievs data. do you think SQL should be taught as a pre-programming course?

I think you have a point here

Hello Ofek when you learn SQL you have to do certain tasks with a limited set of functions and this help you think alittle more another thing is the mathemetics involving set theory that must be learnd before dealing with SQL i THINK that a skilled SQL programmer can easily be taught to be a skilled C programmer because in SQL he gets a programming point of view eli

Thanks for the answer Eli

Nice to see someone bothered to answer me.
I have a nother question for you if you like. So far I have learnt basic relational algebra concepts and Oracle impementaion of SQL. Is it enough to be a good DBA or do I have to continue study relational algebra and concepts like optimisation and normalisation which I hope you know better than I do what they mean. Answers in Hebrew will be welcomed because I have enough English to read as it is.

בקשר למתימטיקה זה צריך להספיק

אבל אתה צריך גם ידע של תכנות (שפות פרוצדורליות ואובייקטים) וכן רקע של mcse (תקשורת,domains users, groups וכו)
