GPA הוא המונח האמריקאי ל , Grade point average משמע- ממוצע ציונים, בין אם זה ציונים של תיכון, או ציונים באוניברסיטה. ישנן דרכים שונות לחשב את הג'יפיאיי. השיטה האמריקאית מחשבת ע"י ציונים בסקאלת אותיות, A שהוא הציון הגבוה ביותר,, -A-, B+ B, B-, וכן הלאה, עד ל F שזה נכשל. אחרי שתתרגם את התעודה שלך ממספרים לאותיות, מה שניתן לעשות לבד, (חיפוש אחר מנועי השוואה, יש בגוגל), או שאתה יכול לפנות למחלקה לשכלול ציונים באונ' ת"א. לאחר מכן, תוכל לגשת לאתר הזה ולבדוק מה הממוצע שלך, כאשר אם A זה 100, A- זה סביב ה90, B+ זה 85, B זה 80, B- זה 75 וכו'... שים לב שלאחר שאתה מתרגם את התעודה שלך, עו"ד או נוטריון צריך לאשר אותה. בדוק את האתר הזה, http://www.back2college.com/gpa.htm בהצלחה, לירז

Ok, now I'm confused

but what about the bagrut bonuses? for example, without bonuses my bagrut is 86 (=3.1 in the USA) but with bonuses it's 100.78 (=4.0 in the USA) So how do I know what they will think about my bagrut in USA or Canada?

All the 5pt. bagrut courses are equal to the APs. The way to calculate the weighted GPA (including the APs) is to give each AP the maximum score of 5. So, as you can gather, the weighted GPA could be higher than 4.0 For example, when I applied for school in the US, I added a page explaining the grading and the matriculation exam systems in Israel signed by my counselor. I had a 106 bagrut GPA and I converted it to the 4.0 scale for them. But I don't think that the conversion was necessary because they can already see that your grade is above 100.

Hi thebride, thanks first of all, for your help. It was helpful. The thing is that now I am trying to apply for schools in Canada, and I just don't know how they will view my grades, because I have to compete with people who graduated highschool here. I know that in Israel my bagrut is not bad, not excellent... it's ok, but here maybe it would be considered really good? maybe it's really bad? I know that in the USA 4.0 is an excellent score and that is the level of most of the students in the ivey leagues, but I really don't think I am ivy league material, lol... so I'm trying to get a realistic view of my bagrut in North America... which is tricky because of the 5 yehidot bonuses.

First of all for the bagrut grades the universities in CAnada don't require that u submit your grades as a GPA.... I studied in Canada (both B.A and M.A) and I just sent my bagrut as it is (traslated to english) without trasforming things to GPA system. Second , the GPA system is only for universities and not for high school really. Third, every university has different GPA system, my university had a 4.0 GPA system whereas a unviersity next to us in the same city had a 4.3 system (which is including an A+ grade). Few other universities in toronto and manitoba or alberta use a 9.0 GPA system. The american universities however, use the 4.0 system (well most of them). If u need any help in applying for the canadian universities then drop me a line (send a message here). I did my B.A in Mcgill (Montreal) and M.A at York (toronto). I can tell u what i wrote when i traslated my bagrut and stuff... and if u want to be smart, take an advice from someone who studied in canadian universities and don't look for answers in other countries....​

every university and high school has different system... my university for example had: 4.0= 85-100=A 3.7=80-84=A- 3.3=75-79=B+ 3.0=70-74=B 2.7=65-69=B- 2.3=60-64=C+ 2.0=55-59=C 1.0=50-54=D 0.0=0-49=F so as i said each university has a different system... but taht's irrelevant since u don't need to convert it when u apply from israel... message me and i'll tell u what u need to do...​

קשה מאוד להמיר ממוצע ציונים

דבר ראשון, כל אוניברסיטה יכולה להשתמש בחישובים שונים. דבר שני, שאני למדתי בארצות הברית קיבלתי הרבה פעמים ציונים ביחס לחברי הכיתה, למשל: קיבלתי A בקורס שסיימתי עם 89, ובגיליון הציונים פשוט רשום 4.00 שזה הציון המכסימלי. אף אחד לא יכול לדעת אם קיבלתי 89 או 100 בקורס הזה. בקורס אחר, 6 הציונים הכי גבוהים היו A, ובעצם יצא שהיה מספיק לקבל 91 ומעלה בשביל A. מה שכן, ברוב הקורסים היה מספיק לקבל 90 בשביל A שזה הציון המכסימלי, ולכן אפשר להגיד שכל ממוצע בארץ של 90+ ייחשב כ A. בד"כ ציון בין 83-89 היה נחשב לי כ A- שזה שווה ל 3.75. אני ממליץ לכל אחד לבקש מכתב מראש המחלקה שלו לגבי המיקום היחסי שלו בכיתה/מחלקה, כי כך האוניברסיטה יכולה לקבל אינדקציה לגבי ממוצע הציונים שלך (כמובן רק אם אתם מדורגים גבוה..).
