Forest of windows 2003 server

I'm trying to add a new domain controller to a forest of windows 2003 servers and windows 2000 servers. The new DC is windows 2003 release2 I’m getting an error saying that the schema of the source forest is not compatible with the version of the active directory on the new DC This is the first release 2 server in my forest... Any ideas?

i order for you to promot to R2 server to an exsiting forest first you need to extend the scheme of the forest by running the /forestprep, then again with the /domainprep since 2003 R2 have additions attributs you have to do the following 1st.

thanks, what is the order of that

what is the order of that way, do i need first to run forestprep on the pdc? as we know microsoft, do i have to do a full backup before, including imgaes of the servers? do you know how much time it is going to take assuming that all the servers are new and i have 5 dc servers?

i'm not sure if it's possiable to undo this actions buy backup and restore. either way, on you're R2 2nd cd you'll find the adprep command. run that on the R2 server after joining it to the domain. 1st run the /forestprep command and than the /domainprep command. i've never done this process but i assum it'll take just about minutes. allow time for replication between you're DC's and join the server to the active directory.

you need to run the ADPREP command with a user having 'Schema Admin' role

1) אתה צריך להריץ על Schema Master את adprep /forestprep כאשר החשבון שאיתו אתה מריץ צריך להיות חבר בSchema Admins 2) אתה צריך להריץ על אחד הDC-ים של כל דומיין בforest את adprep /domainprep עם הרשאות של לפחות Domain Admin באותו דומיין. 3) אתה צריך להריץ adprep /domainprep /gpprep על אחד הDC-ים בכל דומיין בforest גיבויים: לשנן טוב טוב "גיבויים בעזרת אפליקציות שעושות image במקרה של יותר מDC אחד הן אסורות בהחלט !" כפי שאני מכיר את מייקרוסופט (ויצא לי לשדרג עשרות סביבות), עוד לא נתקלתי במהלך שידרוג הschema במצב של schema corruption. עם כל הכבוד, זה לא NT4 עם SP1. בכל זאת, על מנת לבצע rollback יש לצאת מנקודת הנחה שיתבצע Full AD Restore לפי השלבים הבאים: - העברת כל הFSMO-ים לDC יחיד - הורדת כל הDC-ים פרט לDC בעל חמשת הFSMO-ים (או ע"י dcpromo או לאחר כיבוי ע"י ניקוי metadata) - שיחזור system state של DC למצב של לפני שידרוג הschema - dcpromo מחדש של כל שאר הDC-ים כמובן שיש צורך בגיבוי system state של DC שאותו הולכים לשחזר אני לא אכנס ללמה לא משחזרים את כל הDC-ים, אלא מבצעים dcpromo מחדש, אבל אציין שלשיחזור של כל הDC-ים יש סבירות הרבה יותר גבוהה לגרום נזק בלתי הפיך מאשר לשידרוג schema עבור התקנת W2K3 R2

לא הבנתי משהו אחד.

R2 הוא בעצם חבילת תוספות ניהוליות שבלי שום קשר היו זמינות להורדה מהאתר של מיקרוסופט בדרך כזאת או אחרת בעבר.. אז לא הבנתי למה יש לבצע Domainprep לחבילת התוספות הזאת? יותר מזה אני אישית שידרגתי מספר שרתים מ2003 לR2 ולא התבקשתי לעשות שום adprep. בברכה בעז.

R2 היא מערכת הפעלה

לא יודע מאיפה קיבלת את הרושם שזה תוספת חבילות ניהוליות. הסכימה שלו (Version 31) שונה מהסכימה של 2000 ושל 2003.

on the master schema DC from cmd you get into the second cd of R2 access the directory: \cmpnents\r2\adprep run: adprep /forestprep after it runs, restart the server then on the new server you can run dcpromo working great...
