Manolis Lidakis at Mylos Club, Thessaloniki The very popular Greek singer, Manolis Lidakis performs on January 27 and January 28, as well as on February 2,3, 4, 9, 10 and 11, at Mylos Club, Thessaloniki. A performer whose long career has proved that he appreciates the past of Greek music and invests in its future, Lidakis has collaborated with numerous acclaimed Greek composers and musicians. He presents a program which includes some of the best moments of his discography up till now. Manolis Lidakis began his music career in 1982 with the album "Meta apo sena" (After You). The music was written by Yiorgos Katsaros and the lyrics by Elias Liberopoulos. In the next years, he participates in various albums: "Mila mou Apla" (Talk simply to me, 1982), along with Yiannis Parios and Eleni Dimou, Yiannis Markopoulos' "Reportage" (1985), Nikos Xydakis' "Proto vrady stin Athina" (First Night in Athens, 1983) and others. Six years later, his second album "Kita ti egine" (Look what happened) is released. The great success came along with his third album, entitled "Oute pou rotisa" (I didn't even ask) in 1990, with music by Dimitra Galani, Yiannis Spanos, Manolis Chiotis, Stamatis Kraounakis, Arleta and others. Continuing his rising course, he releases in 1992 the album "Karavi apopse to fili (Kiss turned to boat tonight)," which included songs by significant artists (Vassilis Tsitsanis, Ioannis Papaioannou, Tassos Grus and others). The albums "4 Kykloi Tragoudion" (4 Song Cycles, 1995), "O Ilios tou Genari" (The Sun of January, 1997), which included the two cretan songs Lidakis rearranged for the CD single "Astra mi me malonete" (Stars, don't scold me), "San palio krasi" (Like an old wine, 1999) and "Yliko Oniron." His last album, entitled "Gia na se synantiso," was released in 2002. EE

Loukianos Kilaidonis gives midnight concerts at the stage of Athens' Metaxourgion Theatre Greek composer and singer Loukianos Kilaidonis appears live on the stage of Metaxourgion Theatre in Athens, shortly after the end of the performance "The Glass Menagerie" by Tennessee Williams. The concerts take place every Friday and Saturday at midnight with the participation of two more singers: Agni and Doros Dimosthenous. The event is inaugurated on December 16. Loukianos Kilaidonis sings songs for "naughty boys." Based on his 35th music career he creates a repertoire that refers to his "classic" albums. Conductor of the orchestra is Andreas Tsekouras.

His first appearances took place at the small music stages of Athens, that used to give shelter to songs with a political context. Her thrilling voice enables her to interpret almost everything and her repertoire ranges from popular and folk songs to more contemporary music rhythms. Along with the two acclaimed singers, talented composer and song-writer Nikos Xidis and singer Tania Kikidi, appear as well.

Long live the popular song! Music performances at Athens' Charama music hall Once again on the stage of Charama, the historical music hall of Kaisariani, Athens, Mario, one of the most popular female singers in Greece collaborates this year with two important voices of the Greek popular song, Lena Alkeou and Lampros Karelas. The direction of the music performance entitled Long live the popular song is by Charis Romas. The performances start on October 14 and last until March 30, 2006. This music performance pays respect to representative popular songs that were written by many important Greek folk songwriters, such as Markos Vamvakaris, Vassilis Tsitsanis, Bagianderas and Yiannis Papaioannou. In the musical part of the program are also included special references on singers who played a leading role in the resurgence of popular and rebetiko song, among them being Sotiria Bellou, Stelios Kazantzidis, Kaiti Grey, Poly Panou as well as singers of the younger generation, such as Charis Alexiou, Elefteria Arvanitaki and others. Both Mario and Lena Alkaiou present a special homage to one of the most eminent figures of the Greek song, Sophia Vembo. AK
