שלום לכולם, אני בדרך כלל לא פעיל בפורום הזה, אבל זה נראה לי המקום הנכון כרגע.... כמדי שנה אני עוזב את הארץ למספר שבועות, בחופש, לביקור משפחתי בצרפת\שוויץ.... הגעתי לפני כשבועיים, ונותר לי עוד חודש עד לחזרה ארצה. ב-12 ביולי נסעתי לטיול סביב שוויץ של 3 ימים, קמפינג בחוץ והרבה "Sightseeing" , משמע ללא תקשורת בחזרתי בערב ה-14 ביולי, מבסוט כאין כמותו לאחר ביקור במקומות בהם חלמתי לבקר הרבה זמן, ובערב ה-14 ביולי, יום החג הצרפתי, שחרור הבסטיליה, שמעתי לראשונה על המתרחש בארץ. לאחר שהבנתי שלא מדובר בבדיחה, התחלתי להתעמק בדיווחים ובתקריות... בנוגע לשאלות על התקשורת הזרה, לפי מה שאני רואה, ערוצי החדשות הבריטים והאנגליים בהחלט מתמקדים בלבנון, וכמעט שאין כתבי שטח בישראל. זוהי ודאי תפנית חדה לכל תושב הארץ, במצב של מלחמה של ממש, אבל בתקשורת הזרה לא מציינים את מאות הרקטות שנופלות ביישובים שונים כל כמה דקות או סתם בשטחים פתוחים, אלא מציינים את התרחישים הגדולים, כמו בחיפה הבוקר למשל. מה גם שהכחדת נמל זה או אחר בלבנון הוא תרחיש חדשותי "שווה" יותר מאשר צפירות בעכו ופציעת 10 אזרחים.... מצב המלחמה בארץ לא עובר בתקשורת כאן, לא שיבוש הטלפוניה, לא הפסקת חלוקת הדואר, לא סגירת מקומות הבילוי וכו', לא סגירת נמל חיפה לסחורות וכו וכו.... מבחינה דיפלומטית, בהחלט אפשר לראות הסכמה והבנה של צעדי ישראל, מצד דיפלומטים בעולם, כמובן שלא תמיכה גלויה, אך שתיקה או "אי התנגדות", קנדה, רייס, בוש, ורה"מ החדש של איטליה... אני נותן לארועים האלה עוד שבוע-שבועיים עד לחיסול כליל של החזבאללה, בתקווה שצמרת הפיקוד הישראלית לא תרפה, ותכה בכל הכח לאלתר. ולא, אני לא ימני בכלל, נהפוך הוא. צר לי על כל הלבנונים שנפגעים, שלא לדבר על התשתיות. העובדה שהחזבאללה הוא חלק בלתי נפרד ומושרש בלבנון לא אומר שהלבנונים מסכימים איתם, או בצידם. הרבה יותר מדי מאוחר להתנגד להם כעת. למרות זאת, אי אפשר לדעת, כי למרות כל הטכנולוגיה בה מתברך צהל וחיל האויר בפרט, נראה כי העדיפות היתה לתקוף תשתיות לבנוניות ולא את מחבלי החזבאללה עצמם ואת מצבורי הנשק המשמש לריסוס צפון הארץ.... אני יושב פה על המרפסת בשוויץ, כאשר לנגד עיני נפרש נוף עוצר נשימה, הרים מושלגים, בע"ח באחו, כפרים פסטורליים, נופשים ואנשים טובים. כמה שונה מהארץ. בהחלט נותן חשק להפוך את המצב - לגור בשוויץ ולהגיע לחופשות בארץ.... מי יודע, אולי תהא זו המשך דרכי.... אשמח לשמוע תגובות, דעות ורעיונות נוספים, שבוע טוב

Well if you are trying to claim that the "international media" is biased towards the Lebanese, you won’t be the first one to do so and certainly not the last. I was watching the live feed on the internet today from "arutz 2" and was amazed to see the one sided coverage by the Israeli media. For the last couple of days I have been in Norway, with no access to internet and was bound to watch the story developing on CNN and BBC. Indeed, the international media has more correspondents on the Arab side, but for the simple reason that more blood is being shed there. As sad and shocking as this might seem, blood sell. It is much more interesting to show people being rushed to hospitals from heavily bombarded streets then a hole in a side walk fence caused by a Lebanese missile. Again, returning to the Israeli coverage. I was watching the live feed for over 2 hours, and not once was the number of civilian casualties on the Lebanese side mentioned. Not once was the fact mentioned that today Israel bombed a Lebanese army outpost (I stress ARMY, not Hezbollah) killing 7 soldiers which had nothing to do with the conflict. The coverage in Israel as well as in the Arab world is obviously one sided and heavily biased. Unlike you, I find the international coverage to be rather sufficient and balanced. Balanced according to a very simple formula: more dead, more air time. right now (and probably for the rest of this operation/war) there are 12 deads on the Israeli side (not counting soldiers) and less then 50 injured, while we are talking about over 100 dead in Lebanon and more than 500 injured. Of course I am not trying compare numbers, as every case has a family suffering from the death, but yet still, using this simple formula, we might expect a tenfold coverage on the international media of the Lebanese disaster (and it is a disaster). Yet, the media covers the story rather equally. You cannot really expect the media to report on every single missile hitting Israel just as you cannot expect them to report on every single bomb (And we are talking about thousands and ten times as deadly compared to the missile lunched by the Hezbollah) dropped by the IDF. coming from Israel, being pumped pro Israeli propaganda, it will indeed seem as if the media is too biased towards the Lebanese side, while in fact, they merely show you the side of the conflict the Israeli media chooses to “conceal” (and don't get me started on how the media is nothing more than an extended branch of the Israeli governments public relation department)
