Alex is desperate to find Marlena and John, who have taken off together. Hope still believes in John, his love for Marlena, and is suspicious and distrustful of Alex. She continues to run interference. Patrick arrives and Hope tells him not to help Alex. Patrick and Alex go off to look and Hope alerts John. Patrick returns and they guess that John and Marlena are at the tent on the beach. Alex overhears and is awaiting them.

On the beach, Marlena remembers her love for John but the talisman prevents her from remembering what Alex has done to her. John is determined to get her away from Alex and back to Salem. Alex and Patrick find John and Marlena. Alex orders Patrick to shoot John just as Hope arrives. She is horrified and rails at Patrick that Bo was right about him all along!

Sami revels in her happiness at being engaged to Austin. Kate is horrified and angry, she lashes out but to no avail, as Austin, Lucas and Carrie defend Sami. Will arrives and is thrilled to hear about his mom’s engagement and that Carrie’s pregnant. Lucas tells Kate to leave. Sami, celebrating, breaks a champagne bottle and is beyond terrified it portends bad luck.

Abe has planned a romantic dinner in an attempt to renew his relationship with Lexie. Theo breaks the mood by telling his dad he wants a little brother and sister for his birthay. Abe reacts, his bitterness over his impotence resurfacing. Tek arrives with reports for Abe to review and notices the tension between Abe and Lexie. Kate arrives and privately demands to know what Lexie has on Sami Brady... or what Sami has on her. Lexie denies there is anything but Kate vows that one way or another, she will find out!
