וקטע ארוך על פסטיבל טורנטו...
שגם פאב וגם גייל שם
The fans were out in full force at the Festival Schmooze for the T.I.F.F. which aired tonight. Both Gale Harold and Fab Filippo were in attendance, along with their costars and directors. Inside the party, Aaron Woodley (director of Rhinoceros Eyes) was front and center, looking really cool... he wore a suit with a funky collar, and his hair is spiky. He has this incredible energy and passion for his work. Anyway, he introduced some of his cast... but two of the main stars, Michael Pitt and Paige Turco, didn't seem to be with the group that was there. Gale was introduced first; he was wearing grey (I think) slacks and a semi-shiny, purple button-down, short-sleeve shirt. His hair isn't too long, about the same as it was on the show at the end of the season, maybe a bit shorter. The other actors who were there were introduced... the owner of the prop shop, the girl who sells the tickets at the theater, and another actor as well. Aaron summarized the film, although he wasnt' sure he really could, saying that it's about this guy Chep, who works in the prop house. They use stop-motion animation to showcase the props which actually come to life and talk to him. Then one day a girl comes in and Chep becomes obsessed with her and he wants to find some 'real' rhinoceros eyes for her. They showed a clip from the film, two clips actually... one is Chep talking to one of the props... it's a little toy with arms and legs, and Chip is saying he doesn't like "this" (whatever "this" is).. he looks scared.. he's not sure of what's going on, and the prop is trying to reassure him... very weird. Then we see Gale enter the shop, but it's not where Chep was, it seems to be the front desk. He's wearing a grey suit, white dress shirt and a black tie with some sort of pattern on it. Definitely not a Brian suit, LOL. He approaches the the man at the counter, who says "Can I help you?" and he produces his badge, says he's Detective Barbara, 58th division. Another man comes out of the back room... both men are very gruff looking. He says, "Is this about the gorillas?" And Phil replies, "Gorillas? Nope." He says that one of their props, some rhinoceros eyes, were stolen from the set of Betty Bumcakes that morning. He filed a report about it. The guy who came from the back room is making fun of the detective's job, saying that's pretty f---d up to put a detective on a stolen prop. The character of Phil seems pretty 'normal'... he's got a bit of Brian's attitude, at least in this scene, but he's not as defensive... his reaction at the end of the clip reminded me of "Booker" in 36K. While Aaron was talking about the film, the camera was mostly focused on him and you could just see Gale's costars kind of fooling around with a pair of glasses in the background. Woody Harrelson was in attendance with his wife Laura, and he told Liz West (the woman who interviewed Gale and Eva last year) that he was there to support Fab, who plays Frankie Candido in the film Hollywood North, and who is also performing in a play that Woody is directing in Toronto right now, called "This Is Our Youth" (http://www.thisisouryouth.ca/). Later, Fab himself showed up with costar Jennifer Tilly, and Maggie Cassella (another co-host) greeted them and made some comment about how women want to be on top of Fab naked. Then she asked what he was wearing... saying how he always looks so good. He said it w as a suit from Italy that his uncle bought for him, and that was altered by a tailor he knows in Toronto. Maggie tried to peek inside his jacket to see the label.. it was some Italian name she couldn't really pronounce, but tried to. She said the word meant "break" and that they were going to commercial. Later on, several of the cast of Hollywood North was interviewed, along with director Peter O'Brian. Fab was there, once again, standing with Jennifer Tilly. The interviewer pointed out that in the movie, Fab ends up in bed with Jennifer (she plays a starlet who sleeps around). Jennifer replied, "Yes, on screen and off." Fab looked embarrassed, but then joked that it was "in his contract, actually." That's about it.... I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting, but I was just so happy to finally see a bit of this movie and how Gale looked!
