טוב..עוד לא בGP אבל קארינה דווילה מככבת באליפות האופנועים של מקסיקו כנראה עושה צעדיה בכיוון הנכון... Karina Davila, who is the only woman to be currently riding in the Mexican Motorcycling Championship, is the Katja Poensgen of the Americas. Karina got into motorcycling in a strange sort of way, with her first saddle coming on top of horses: she was National Equestrian Champion in Mexico back in 1984. Motorcycling didn´t really appeal to her until 1991, when she went to a circuit for the first time, to see a few races live after having seen them on the television. She bought her first bike in 1999, a Honda 600F2 and without having any previous racing experience, immediately popped off to the Guadalajara circuit to have a practice. 10 days later she took part in a race carrying a hairline fracture of the elbow, and came in second last. Last season, Karina made her entry into the history books, becoming the first woman to have finished a Mexican National Championship and scoring points. She came third in the rookies category and is still gaining experience at the circuits. This year she took part in the ILP Championship, has Honda backing, and after 5 races she is in fifth place overall in the standings. The Mexican Miss described her experiences so far, ´To compete against men allows me to constantly improve my level. Furthermore, I want to make it clear that I´m not here to make any sort of point, I´m just enjoying myself competing. On the day that the fear takes over the enjoyment, then I´ll give it all
