A very trusted friend of mine heard this album in confidence, one time, and took notes. Yo, George- Solo with piano. Political in nature, poetic. Big Wheel- What's in the clip is what's on the record. Bouncing Off Clouds- The name says it all. Upbeat and poppy. Teenage Hustling- Kick-ass rock song. Loud guitars, circa 70's hard rock. Digital Ghost- Reminiscent of the Beatles. Nice Harmonies. Most radio friendly. You Can Bring Your Dog- Grooving Southern rock in the vein of Little Amsterdam. Crunchy Guitars. Mr. Bad Man- 70's pop, kind of like a tv theme song from that era. Fat Slut- Guitars, Distorted vocals, ANGRY. Girl Disappearing- Beautiful, Lush orchestration. Think Baker Baker, Doughnut Secret Spell- Like the clip Devils and Gods- Acoustic guitar and vocal only. Pretty interlude. Body and Soul- Dirty Rock. Religious overtones, great groove, loud, Best live song potentially. Father's Son- Slow, atmospheric, dark, eerie, great percussion, beautiful. Programmable Soda- Cute, whimsical, Brass/horns. Strings. Reminiscent of Daisy Dead Petals. Code Red- Dark, Piano driven slow rocker. Good lyrics. Moody. Awesome ending. Roosterspur Ridge- Obligatory sappy ballad. Tori doing 80's pop-metal ballad. Beauty of Speed- Great groove, beat heavy verses, uptempo rock. Think Siren/Butterfly "with a bigger bottom" Almost Rosey- Mixed feelings. Verses are okay, driving beat, lame chorus. Velvet Revolution- Spanish flavor. Flamenco guitar/mandolin. Dark Side of the Sun- Epic of this album. Anti-War. Rock. Great ending. My friend immediately disliked all of the leaked clips on promosquad, so his affirmation that this is a truly great album should bode well for public opinion. 2 songs rock, a la She's Your Cocaine- Teenage Hustling/Body and Soul. Lots of up beat, rock songs. In my friend's personal opinion, this album is as good as Venus, if not better. Definitely better than SW/SLG/BKPR All the five interludes are really good. Definitely trying out new sounds. Is NOT The Beekeeper part 2 in ANY way. What she said about "this is the tori you haven't seen in a while" WAS about rocking. The leaked album picture is representative of the album as a whole, with the three leaked songs being the anomaly, sonically. The lack of details regarding the lyrics is a result of only one listen. The return of the real Tori Amos.
