חדשות thinking plauge
נתקלתי בזה במקרה באתר של קיוניפורם. אני מניח שלהבה אני לא מחדש יותר מידי אבל בכל זאת...נשמע מבטיח! As some will know, three members of TP are also in Hamster Theatre, which has just completed a new project, to be released as a double CD set in May 2006 on Cuneiform. One disk, entitled The Public Execution of Mister Personality, is a collection of new studio material, including compositions, as usual, by Dave Willey and Jon Stubbs, but also Mark Harris and for the first time, Mike Johnson. This new collection covers a wide spectrum of flavors and styles (which is normal for HT), perhaps even wider than pervious releases. The second disk is entitled Quasi-Day Room and consists of a completely un-doctored mix of Hamster Theatreís live set at the ìProgman Comethî Festival in Seattle in August 2002. This is certainly the best live performance, and best sounding live recording of HT, ever captured on tape. The entire double CD set is being mixed and mastered by former Thinking Plague & 5UUs multi-musician and master producer Bob Drake (Science Group, Hail, EC Nudes, AA Kismet, Vril, and innumerable credits as mixer/producer) at his studio in France. Meanwhile, Thinking Plague leader Mike Johnson is writing new material for a future TP CD (dates unknown), and laying the groundwork for a new live Plague ensemble for possible outings late in 2006 or early 2007 (good things take time, folks!), featuring some new and old faces: Kurt Rongey, keyboard wizard, singer and composer for avant-fusion masters, Underground Railroad, who is also a major TP head, has tentatively signed on to be TP keys man. Kurt is studying charts and developing tones, even now (we hope!). Mark Fuller, former Thinking Plague drums master & exotic percussion player (Maelstrom, Organism, Etude for Combo, Collarless Fog, Moonsongs, Possessed, and Thorns/The War), political radical & conspiracy connoisseur, sometime LA producer/engineer and an old many-bands-mate of Johnson, Drake, Dave Willey and Mark Harris, has agreed to be the new TP drummer. Additionally, the Mike Johnson is auditioning vocalists for a new second singer slot in TP. He wants to be able to do proper live performances of TP vocal harmonies and counterpoint. So, look for 2 or hopefully 3 singers on stage in a seven-piece live unit.
