Blue And Elton Set For No. 1 December 13, 2002 Blue and Elton John currently lead the race for the top of Sunday´s chart with their reworking of Elton´s tearjerker, "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word To Say," according to midweek sales figures. While Blue and Elton lead the pack, Gareth Gates´ new offering "What My Heart Wants To Say" looks unlikely to penetrate the top five. Apart from Blue, no new entries should debut in the top five, as Cheeky Girls, Eminem, Daniel Bedingfield and Robbie Williams hold tight. S Club Juniors are on course to enter just behind Gareth, at seven, with "Puppy Love/Sleigh Love," while Pink, Holly Valance, Bon Jovi and Ja Rule all look like falling short of previous chart successes, heading for entries in the top 20. Sod all´s happening in the album chart -- Robbie Williams´ Escapology looks sure to hold on for another week at the top, while the likes of Blue, Westlife and Elton John will also hold tight to their top ten positions. While the aforementioned U.K. acts continue their long hauls at the top end of the album chart, it appears that this isn´t such a great time for major American acts. Most U.S. heavyweights have entered the U.K. album chart at relatively lowly positions in recent weeks, and have quickly slipped down to album chart no-man´s land. The new LPs from the likes of Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Jay-z are all current examples. "Must try harder," says Uncle Sam.
