BLUE - WEMBLEY ARENA, LONDON Shop for Blue Shop for Blue tickets At £21 a ticket, today´s pop consumer has every right to demand something out of the ordinary. And Blue, the nation´s favourite boy band, are not about to disappoint, even on their first ever tour. This incredible show has pretty much everything. ´West Side Story´-style choreography? Yup. Vocalists arriving on stage in a beach buggy? No problem. Lee doing a strip tease? Of course. Mid-set disco medley played in fancy dress, including Simon in an Afro the size of the Millennium Dome? Gotcha. Earth turned to flaming ruins by meteor storm? Check. OK, so it´s just some fireworks - albeit fireworks attached to wires that fly from one end of this vast entertainment factory to the other - and the flames flicker only on the video wall behind the graffiti-bedecked stage set. But if it´s the ridiculous grand theatrical gesture you crave, Blue provide probably the best night out you´re going to get. They´ve even brought in Mr Good News himself, Martyn Lewis, to introduce us to the whole meteor shower concept via a series of make-believe news broadcasts scattered through the performance. Well, it´s pantomime season after all. There´s more to the show than the, erm, show, though. A superbly marshalled band bring Blue´s pop/rap/R&B concoctions to life, the lads sing rather than - as could have been expected and excused, given the amount of running around they have to do - lip synch, and the songs are easily strong enough to support the level of adulation they receive from a 97 percent female crowd. ´Ain´t Got You´ sounds the one false note of the evening, the only time the music seems at all weedy; for the most part, the sound is as impressive as it needs to be to cut through the wall of (young, female) noise. The opening ´Riders´, in particular, is beyond heavy - a piledriver grind of a beat. A costumed amble through ´Boogie Nights´ and ´Car Wash´ proves that Blue are good sports, but it´s ´One Love´ that is the high point, one of the year´s best singles given an affectionate if stumbling rendition with 8000 people swaying, bouncing and singing along. The high point, that is, until the finale, a post-apocalyptic (well, post-meteoric, then) take on the cheekily Yankophile ´Fly By´, before Blue exit on their dune buggy, doubtless high-fiving their way back to the dressing room, pleased with another job well done. הוא התלהב מהמופע שלהם או שזו רק אני? יאאא, בדרך כלל הוא אל מתלהב מלהקות פופ... מגניב
