No reason to stop
It may be that if the incision is close to the areola, it might be painful to latch the baby, but you can still breastfeed from teh other breast. what is interesting is that the milk will ooze out through the stitches and the wound will heal much faster that way. I helped a mom who was injured in a terrorist attack and her left breast was full of bullet holes. She kept breastfeeding from teh right breast, and the left breast healed becuase the milk came out of the holes and helped the healing. The doctors were in shock. She is still breastfeeding her 4th baby from both breasts and has no problems. The ultrasound technician was not correct in saying that the whole breast is full of milk...........what do they think, that the breast is like a balloon and fill of milk? There is a series of ducts where the milk flows, and there is no problem to check the breast. Good luck and let us know what happens.
