אורן וולומי , Wollemia nobilis , ממשפחת Araucariaceae הוא העץ החי העתיק בעולם, ממש דינוזאור, התגלה באוסטרליה ב- 1994 בפרק לאומי במרחק של כ – 200 ק”מ מסדני. קיימים בעולם רק כ – 200 עצים בוגרים, הוחלט על דרך מעניינת לשמרו, להפיץ אותו בכל העולם, אתמול התקיימה בבית המכירות סוטבי Sotheby מכירה פומביות של 292 העצים הראשונים, באפריל 2006 מתוכננת מכירה נוספת של כמות גדולה יותר של עצים לכל העולם. העץ עורר התרגשות גדולה בין חובבי הטבע בכלל וחובבי הבונסאי בפרט – על פי תכונותיו יתאים כנראה מאוד לבונסאי. פרטים נוספים באתר וולמי.
